Charge!

Roxanne’s smile widened.

Eureka! Another successful experiment. They worked better than I thought they would.

Knowing she was in control, she stood halfway up the stairs as Mia took one heavy step forward.

“Come on, Mia. The others didn’t even know what this was about. What’s your excuse?”

“It’s only my jacket. I’ll take more from you.”

Roxanne giggled. “But you’ve had so much time to prepare. The others kept their clothes on for so much longer.” She pointed upwards. “Remember the cameras, Mia. I’ve already set up the draft pages for you.”

Mia lumbered forward with a growl.

“All I have to do is upload the content.”

Roxanne had slowly edged up the stairs as she spoke, aware she wouldn’t win a fistfight with this goal. She could smell what this girl was about a mile away.

“Let me guess,” Roxanne continued to tease. “Popular girl. Above average grades. Probably had a boyfriend from the football team called Brad.”

Mia continued to advance on her. “Wow, such a genius, you looked at my Facebook posts.”

I did look at her Facebook posts.

“Let me guess, tight end? Probably got all up in your tight end.”

Mia charged her.

“Not so tight anymore.”

A loud bang rattled the foundations of the hallway as the small explosive detonated, releasing a torrent of smoke. Mia screamed and covered her ears.

She’d tripped the motion sensor Roxanne had deftly stepped over on her way up and downstairs. Roxy activated her glasses again, enhancing her hearing. Once again, she heard her breath rattling through her body, but this time, she heard Mia scrambling around in the impenetrable smoke.

I think my trash talk is getting better too. This is going to be a good day.
