Chapter 3 by HiBeGi HiBeGi

How shall the battle begin?

Waking Up in the Black Dragon Fight Club

A woman in her early fifties lay sprawled on the concrete floor underneath her. She was fading in and out of conciseness as she stared up at the ceiling lights above her. The woman had long blonde hair fashioned into a ponytail and wore a blue and black leather jacket that was zipped halfway up over a blue shirt. Her pants matched the colour of her shirt and jacket. Black belts could be found wrapped all around her legs, with pouches and holsters attached to them to hold all sorts of equipment that she carried. Adorned on her feet were black military boots, and laying on the ground beside them was a blue army cap. After a few seconds of opening and closing her eyes, the woman was eventually able to keep them open, but was still dazed. The lights and her surroundings were a blur, and the hectic noise around her was muffled. The woman began to recollect herself, attempting to recall the events as well as shake off her dazed state.

She was Sonya Blade, a general in the OIA Special Forces unit. She had recently given her duties over to her daughter while she went to investigate a lead in Russia. This lead had to deal with a base that the Black Dragon had been using in Russia. While the Black Dragon was an Earthrealm criminal organization, they still fell into the Outer World Investigation Agency's domain of interest due to their arms dealings with the outlaws and tyrants of Outworld. Though, for Sonya, her interest in the Black Dragon was a bit more than just her duty; it was a grudge. A grudge against its leader, Kano, who had killed a partner of hers back during her earlier years. So, this mission was on a personal level for her. She had taken a team of more than fifty soldiers out to Russia to perform a raid on the base. Though things didn't quite go right. The last thing Sonya remembered was her daughter giving her a call about an issue she was dealing with in Outworld before her squad was suddenly ambushed. In the process of the firefight that ensued, Sonya was knocked out, and now she finds herself waking up here. Wherever that may be.

Rolling over to her side, Sonya squinted her eyes as she viewed the area around her, her vision clearing up over time. She was surrounded by a bunch of chain-link fences with barbed wire on top of them; behind the fences was a crowd of men and women, all looking like the ruffian type, each of them grinning or smirking at the sight of the now awakened Sonya Blade. Sonya furrowed her brows and gritted her teeth upon realizing where she was, she had been kidnapped by the Black Dragon. With a grunt, she lifted herself off the ground and began to sprint over to the fence closest to her. Once she reached it, she slammed her shoulder into it in an attempt to knock it down. Despite its impromptu appearance, the fence stayed in place. Sonya quickly grabbed onto it and began to uselessly shake it. "Well, look who's finally awake." A familiar voice mocked from behind Sonya, causing the blonde to turn around, seething with anger. Standing behind a bar was a man who was approaching his sixties; he was balding and had a beard. The man was shirtless, showing off his muscular physique and tattooed arms. And, off course, most importantly, has that damned cybernetic eye. It was none other than that bastard, Kano. "Not even been awake for a minute, and you're already trying to fight, fierce as always, love." The Australian outlaw continued to mock his prisoner, grabbing a bottle of beer sitting on the counter of the bar and popping it open using one of his combat knives.

Kano raised his drink to his lips but was stopped short by Sonya speaking "How?" Sonya demanded.

It was a simple question, yet Kano's brow quirked upon hearing Sonya's question. It wasn't that he was confused, but that he was feigning confusion. "How?" The Aussie smugly smirked as he restated Sonya's question.

"Cut the bullshit, you know what I mean." Sonya answered back, not wanting another second to be wasted. Sonya had been concentrating solely on Kano's voice; everything else had been still muffled to her. But, now, she was beginning to notice some things in her surroundings; the crowd had mostly quieted down when Kano spoke, though there were still a few conversations and chuckles coming from within the sea of people. Sonya could also hear music being played. Glancing around, Sonya could spot some speakers hanging from the wall, blasting some shitty synthwave music. She even began to notice things in the cage that she was trapped in. The floor was stained with blood, both old and new. There were all types of broken and worn down weapons resting all around the area. Sonya guessed that she was in some form of makeshift cage ring. Surprisingly, only half of the area was illuminated; the rest was in the dark, with the light above it turned off.

"How... how did I find out about your attempted raid?" Kano pompously asked, he waited a few seconds to see Sonya's response, who simply glared at him, gritting her teeth harder. A toothy grin appeared on Kano's face at the sight of Sonya's vexation. The leader of the Black Dragon then brought his beer back up to his lips and began to chug it, finishing the bottle in a matter of seconds. With the bottle now empty, Kano removed his mouth from it and let out a satisfied exhale before smashing the glass bottle on the ground, causing it to shatter. Kano then hopped over the counter and began to make his way over to the fence that Sonya stood behind. "Let me tell you something, love, you are obsessed." Kano stated as he reached the fence, "The first bloke that you find that tells you where to find good ol' Kano and you immediately march off to go find me without a second thought." Kano explained further, his voice dripping with arrogance.

"Shit!" Sonya murmured; she had let her squad walk right into a trap. That lead she had gotten was a secret invitation from Kano disguised as information that the Special Forces could use to take down a major Black Dragon base. Information that could've been used for Sonya to finally kill that bastard. Sonya punched the chain-link fence, right where Kano stood. Though he did not flinch, rather, he chuckled instead. The two had been fighting for so long that they were used to each other's antics.

"Well, my pretty little bird, you found me." Kano continued to speak, mostly because he liked the sound of his own voice. "But if you want me, you're going to have to work for it." Kano then whistled over to one of his goons that was standing on a platform above a set of doors. The goon pulled one of two levers, one of which was already down. Once the lever had been flipped, the lights on the other side of the ring turned on, revealing the opposite end of the cage and a woman standing in it. "Turns out you weren't the only one who wanted my head tonight." Kano explained as he motioned over the newcomer.

The woman was blonde like Sonya, though she was much younger, looking to be in her late twenties. She wore a dark and light purple camo-themed body suit that hugged her body and left her shoulders exposed. The woman had been leaning against the fence with her arms crossed; when the lights turned on, her arms dropped to her sides, and she pushed herself off of the barrier. "That there is an assassin, one by the name of Nina Williams. Guessing this is the first time you two are meeting." Kano said with a shrug. "Now you see, both you fine ladies are want to off me..." Kano paused in his monologue for a second as he glanced at the two women in the ring, "But if you want to get to me, you'll first have to go through each other." Kano announced with a chuckle.

Sonya locked eyes with Nina, the two blondes were determined to do whatever it took to escape. "And before you think about not fighting each other." Kano added on as he motioned for several members of the Black Dragon to walk over the chain-link fence. Each member was carrying a gun, which they aimed at the two women by shoving them into the gaps in the fence. "You get the picture, right?"

The synthwave music suddenly got louder in preparation for the fight, "You can kill each other! You can beat the other till their crying and pissing all over the place! Or hell, you just knock them out and the rest of us can have some fun! All the matters is that one of you is the victor and the other is unable to continue fighting!" Kano announced the rules to both combatants and the crowd. The Aussie then made his way over to Nina's side of the ring and tapped one of his knives against it to get her attention. Nina glared at Kano, which he took as his cue to speak to her, "Word of advice, that woman is a stuborn bitch and has been hunting my arse for decades." Kano whispered, but was met with silence. Kano rolled his one working eye at what he considered disregard before continuing, "So, I'm just saying, she probably really wants to win this."

Nina looked Kano up and down, her face resting in a neutral expression. "Very well," she said. Nina responded before walking toward Sonya. Kano smirked as Nina walked off before heading back to the bar lounge he had previously been sitting at. As Nina walked forward, so did Sonya, who picked her cap off the ground and fastened it upon her head as she made her way over to her opponent. The crowd began to chant, and with each step the women took, the chant grew louder. It grew louder and louder until both women stopped walking and stood one foot apart, blue eyes fixed on the other.

Which blonde will make the first move?
