Visit the Hospital Wing

Your visit to the Hospital Wing goes the same way that it normally does. Madam Pomfrey looks at you disapprovingly, but manages to fix you up without trouble. You try to walk away, but she pierces you with a beady eye.

“You always get into trouble, Mr Potter”, she says. “I won’t be having with that. You can stay here until you’re mended.”

“What?” you splutter.

You won’t ever be able to finish your potion if you keep on having to spend the night in the Hospital Wing for every minor hurt. Madam Pomfrey is uncompromising, though.

“You’ll only undo all the hard work I’ve done”, she says tartly. “No leaving until I say so. And that’s the end of that discussion.”

There’s not much you can say to that. You consider trying to escape when Madam Pomfrey returns to her office, but you rule that out quickly. If there’s someone you don’t want to get on the bad side of at Hogwarts, it’s Madam Pomfrey. You sigh and get into the bed the healer has made up for you.

You drift in and out of sleep for several hours. Eventually, you find yourself lying in bed, fully awake. Turning, you see that the light in Madam Pomfrey’s room is lit and she is silhouetted in the doorway. It’s clear that she’s about to do her rounds. You could pretend to be asleep until after she’s done, giving you a chance to search the Hospital Wing stores for potion ingredients. Or you could just let Madam Pomfrey heal you up quickly and get back to your search.
