Velvet Room

All of a sudden, I had some kind vision of a door opening and filling my brain with light. Inside the door was what seemed like a huge elevator coated in velvet. In front of me was a desk with a bizarre looking man sat at it. His eyes bulge, his nose was knifelike and his grin was too wide. He was wearing a black suit and white gloves. Stood next to him was a blonde girl.

"Welcome to the Velvet Room, my dear young man," the bizarre man said. "My name is Igor. I am delighted to make your acquaintance."

I guess he's an imaginary friend or something see I only see him in dreams. I wonder why my imaginary friend is a creepy old man. Freud would have a field day with me.

"This is Elizabeth. She's a resident here, like myself."

My other imaginary friend. I think she's meant to be Igor's assistant but I've never seen her do much to help him. Maybe I'm overanalysing my own dreams.

"Pleased to meet you." Elizabeth said.

"This place exists between dream and reality, mind and matter. It's been years since we had a guest."

All of a sudden, the contract I had signed showed up on the table between me and Igor.

"Only those who have signed the contract can enter this place," Igor said. "Henceforth, you shall be welcome here in the Velvet Room. You are destined to hone your unique ability and will require my help to do so. I only ask one thing in return, that you abide by the contract and assume responsibility for the choices you make."

"I don't understand." I said, feeling myself stirring from sleep.

"That is fine for now." Igor told me. "Hold onto this."

Igor gave me the Velvet Key.

"Til we meet again." he said.
