Chapter 4 by Eismann Eismann

What's next?

Valoria, the City of Gold

I let the imps do their work and walked towards the main entrance of the building. I was about to open the door, when I noticed my red hand on the doorhandle. 'Right, that is one way to get myself killed...', I thought, remembering Carnachias' promise. I used the ability the femboy angle had bestowed upon me, turning into a tall man with sharp features and fancy clothing. I gave one final command to my imps to hide if anyone but me entered the property, then I stepped outside.

It was a warm and sunny day, clear blue skies and I could feel fresh, salty air in my nose. It was a harbour city. A city of this size right by the ocean must be a trade hub with gold to spare. A place where the powerful and rich meet. I made a mental note to thank Mel and Carna when I next met them and then walked through my garden towards the gate. It was unkempt but large and green, certainly with lots of potential. I opened the gate of the fence and closed it behind me, then began exploring the city streets. I did notice some people gave me curious looks when stepped out of the mansion, not unexpected, as it had evidently been empty for quite some time. To them, I am an unknown stranger who seemingly bought a massive mansion inside the city out of nowhere. I gave friendly smiles to anyone looking at me but didn't talk to anyone yet.

The city was called Valoria, I quickly learned, and was a hub of trade just as I expected. Money seemed to be the highest authority in this place, not the gods, so it was the perfect place for me to start off my plans. The district my dungeon was in was the second most wealthy, the merchant district. It was filled with stores of all kinds as well as the houses of wealthier merchants. I heard there was a district for the local nobility, a massive district for the normal citizens of Valoria. The harbour district and the slums. The people here seemed happy and open without much worry, probably facilitated by their wealth and the large presence of heavily armed guards seen on every corner of the city.

I concluded that my plan would take root in this place and was glad I landed in the merchant district. The setting sun was turning the sky and ocean orange by the time I returned to my mansion. When I approached the gate, five guards stepped out of the shadows towards me.

What do they want?
