UNIVERSAL STUDIOS DRACULA take III

Dr. Jarvis and the Professor have decided to meet in Edwin's office this afternoon to continue their discussion. As the dark-haired man sat at his desk, Professor Lumpkin stood with his back to his compatriot, to looking out the window.

“Professor, Ms. Renfield’s cravings have always been for small living things,” explained Dr. Jarvis, “Nothing human.”

Willie turned around to face the owner of the sanitarium. The mustached old man looked the owner of the sanitarium squarely in the eye with determination.

“As far as we know Doctor,” replied the Professor, “But you tell me she escapes from her room.”

Edwin could only nod his head in acknowledgement.

“She’s gone for hours,” the old man continued, then leaned in further, “Where does she go?”

Just as he had been asked, Randy Robertson brought in Betty Renfield herself.

“Well, Ms. Renfield, you are looking much better than you did this morning when I arrived,” remarked Professor Lumpkin.

Betty stood straight and politely responded, “Thanks, I’m feeling much better.”

Dr. Jarvis continued to sit at his desk and watch the interaction between the old Professor and his patient with a perplexed and apprehensive expression. The woman walked to a foot of the Professor, and she witnessed the old man hold out his hand.

“I am here to help you,” Professor Lumpkin offered gently, “You understand that do you not?”

“Why of course,” said the pretty brunette as she took the old man’s hand, “and I am very grateful.”

Willie looked down to examine Ms. Renfield’s hand, but she yanked her hand away aggressively.

“Keep your filthy hands to yourself,” she angrily snapped.

The Professor slowly backed off as to give the young woman her space.

“Now, now, Ms. Renfield,” the Doctor admonishes, not realizing that he had drawn Betty's attention and then her expresion changes to that of a sorrowful 1.

“Oh, Dr. Jarvis, send me away from this place,” she demanded theatrically, “Send me far away!”

“Why are you so anxious to get away?” asked Willie, hoping to dissect her problem.

Betty looked quickly from 1 man to the other, unsure of what to say. She then put her hands on the Doctor’s desk and leaned forward when she had thought of her alibi.

“My cries at night,” she explained, “They might disturb Mina Jane.”

“Yes?” inquired the wiry Professor.

The brunette woman then stopped leaning and turned her head to face Professor Lumpkin. Now it was time to give this old man the business.

“They might give her bad dreams Professor Lumpkin,” informed Ms. Renfield before she took her hands off the desk and inched closer to the old man, still leaning forward, “bad dreams.”

The sound of a canine howling is heard at a distance and the Professor turned his head to hear it. Betty however backed up in fear, she saw the sun is setting through the window until it disappeared. She knew what was to come.

Deep within a basement with stone walls a box is shown opens. Dracula climbs out of the dream-box to explore the new surroundings. He looks to the right to find a caged window, satisfied he leaves the grounds.

Within Dr. Jarvis’ office, the 4 individuals continue their discussion. Each with their own purpose being there.

“That sounded like a wolf,” remarked the Professor.

“Yes, it did, but I hardly think there are wolves so near London,” answered Edwin

Randy thought he should step forward and make his own case of the newest patient. Whether he liked it or not, he was attending to her.

“She thinks they’re wolves,” said the dark-skinned man, pointing to Betty, “Me, I’ve heard ‘em howl at night before.”

The orderly only shook his head slowly, his hands on his hips. He did not understand where this conversion was going since their talk seemed ridiculous to him.

“She thinks they’re talking to her,” Randy told his employer when he looked back at him, “She howls and howls back at ‘em…she’s crazy!”

Willie was now intrigued by this new information and turned to face Dr. Jarvis with a smile. This was a perfect way to learn about the undead.

“I might have known,” the Professor remarked as he pulled out a case from his breast pocket, “I might have known.”

Professor Lumpkin, still smiling, opened the case and removed an herb. Everyone else just stayed quiet, whatever the old man was going to do was going to be weird.

“We know why the wolves talk, do we not, Ms. Renfield?” continued the old Professor coyly, “And we know how we can make them stop.”

Betty Renfield could not help but feel apprehensive as the Professor Lumpkin approached her with the mysterious herb that he took out moment ago, then to have it shoved in her face. The brunette did not know why but she hated it and cried out. As she reeled back violently, she was caught by Randy the orderly.

“You know too much to live, Lumpkin,” sneered the brunette woman, her teeth bared.

“Now, now, Ms. Renfield,” admonished Dr. Jarvis, having now stood up to scold his patient.

Professor Lumpkin looked toward Dr. Jarvis, “We’ll get no more out of her now for a while.”

The balding man only nodded his head in response, “Take her away, Randy.”

The dark-skinned orderly then physically steered the woman away, toward the door, “On your way, Ms. fly-eater.”

Right as she is out the door, Ms. Renfield used enough of her strength to turn around. She had enough vigor to make 1 more comment.

“I’m warning you, Dr. Jarvis,” she venomously cautioned, “If you don’t send me away you must answer for what will happen to Mina Jane!”

“All right, Randy,” the Doctor motioned with his hand and index finger to the door.

“Come along, now, come alone,” implored Randy as he steered Betty away while tapping her shoulder.

Dr. Jarvis then turned to face the Professor and pointed to the plant in the old man’s hand, “What was that herb that excited her so?”

“Wolfsbane,” answered Willie as he raised the hand holding the herb, “It is a plant that grows in central Europe; the natives there use it to protect themselves against vampires.”

“Ms. Renfield reacted very violently to its scent,” said Edwin as Willie put the herb back in the case.

“Jarvis, I want you to have Ms. Renfield closely watched by day and night,” instructed Professor Lumpkin, “especially by night.

Ever since Betty Renfield gave the warning to Dr. Jarvis, she had been in her cell, crying into the pillow. Once she had settled down, she raised her head and propped it with her right hand. Night had finally fallen the moonlight shone through her window. The young woman let out a sigh when all of a sudden, she heard a howl and slowly stood up and faced the widow.

“Yes, Master,” the brunette harshly whispered with excitedly expression.

Dracula had decided to pay a visit to his thrall’s dream-self's cell, here he stood outside barred window.

Betty walked to her window and smiled at the sight of her Master, “Master, you’ve come back.”

Vlad only raised an eyebrow as he watched his ****’s dream-self rant.

“Oh, Master, please,” the thrall begged, “Please don’t ask me to do that…don’t…not her.”

The dream-walker knew that he would have to rectify his ****’s perception of him when she had awakened. He could not have her see him as a threat to her friends.

“Please, please don’t Master…don’t, please…please,” Betty continued to plead as she lowered her head, “Oh don’t.”

******************

Mina Jane lied in her bed with her red hair spread about the pillow, but she saw a bat flying just outside her open window. Dracula inwardly smiled as he flew in then shifted back into his true shape. Vlad only smiled as he stood away from the bed. He knew the role and so the nosferatu walked over to the beauty’s prone form, and then he bent over her. But all the beauty saw was a large shadow, she could not scream or move, especially when it was over her and kissed her neck. And then, oblivion.
