Chapter 2 by Corruptis

Who is the first to fall?

Two Fall Together: Uraraka & Midoriya

Years have passed since the defeat of All For One and Tomura Shigaraki. The societies of the world had finally started to settle into the new era of peace. A new student center, dedicated as the One for All Student Center, had finished completion during the final year of the class of heroes the vastly contributed to that victory. That very class was now awaiting their pending graduation from U.A.

“You have any plans for after the ceremony on Friday?” Tsuyu asked her friend, Ochaco Uraraka, as they walked along the path towards the memorial statues leading up to the One for All Student Center.

“Mainly apartment hunting. We need to move out of our dorms here by the end of graduation weekend and I still haven’t found one where I can afford the deposit.” Uraraka replied. “I knew it might have been riskier getting my hero’s contractors license instead of signing up as an official sidekick for a single agency, but landlords won’t give me credit for the few support jobs I’ve already secured for next week. They want a payment up front.”

“Why did you go the contractor route then Ochaco-chan? It’s only been an official route for a year now, but already shows inconsistent earning cycles depending on what areas are being overwhelmed and need the additional support.” Tsuyu responded.

Uraraka answered, “I felt it would allow me to help the most people, civilians and other heroes, especially with disaster relief as my main ambition. I could more fluently move between disasters.” as the two approached the statue of the first holder of One for All. Uraraka’s eyes shone a little brighter as she witnessed Izuku Midoriya walking out of the student center. “Deku-kun!” she shouted happily as she waived.

Midoriya noticing her, smiled back as he waved. “Uraraka-san! Tsuyu-san. How are you doing?”

Tsuyu responded first. “I’m doing well. Uraraka was just telling me how she’s still apartment hunting to have a place to move to after graduation.”

“Really?” Midoriya replied confused. “I went the contracting route too. Weren’t any landlords able to work with you? I wanted to find one myself so mom wouldn’t have to worry about me coming home at inconsistent times. I’m paying a higher deposit with my first month’s rent for the one I found since the landlord was willing to have the deposit delayed, but it was something. Figured you have it easier since disaster relief is more common and easier to get consistent jobs as a contractor.”

“Afraid so…” Uraraka replied, her hand rubbing the back of her neck to help contain her disappointment. Her wide smile lowering to a sad smile and eyes a little dulled. “I could ask my parents for help…but I really wanted to show them that I was making it so they could focus on their own needs.”

Seeing her smile less than her fullest panged Midoriya. His hero instincts kicked in, though instead of moving before he could think, he spoke. “My apartment is going to be small with a shared kitchenette/living area and one bathroom, but it does have two bedrooms…would you like the other bedroom?”

Tsuyu asked unabashedly, “You want to live together?”

Both Uraraka and Midoriya’s faces turned sharply crimson from the blood rushing to their faces. Uraraka managed to answer, “That’s just like you Deku-kun, so very kind. I think…I would like…that I could…”she shook head to settle her bubbling feelings, “…I gratefully accept, thank you!” Her eyes returned to their former luster and smile no longer with a hint of sadness.

Midoriya joyfully replied, “Great. I can officially move in the day after the graduation ceremony. We can move in at the same time and help each other.”

“I’d love that,” confirmed Uraraka.

***EARLY EVENING OF MOVE IN DAY***

“Well moving of the boxes was easy with your quirk, but the unpacking took forever,” Midoriya commented as he put away the last few cooking utensils in the kitchen as the sun was beginning to set.

Uraraka sat on the couch, her black tank-top and gym shorts straining against the muscular physique she had developed from her years at U.A. “Glad it’s over now.” She commented as her glance went towards Midoriya, whose own strained ‘shirt’ shirt and gym shorts caused Uraraka’s heart to flutter in admiration.

Midoriya looked back over at her, trying to keep his own fluttering heart in check. He thought to himself, ‘She’s always been beautiful, but damn so much time together today makes it hard to stay focused’. “I had planned on cooking some katsudon for dinner with mochi for dessert…” Uraraka’s eyes sparkled as she recognized his thoughtfulness in choosing her favorite dessert “…as a little celebratory dinner tonight.”

“That sounds great,” Uraraka answered. To which Midoriya promptly responded, “but before that, it looks like the landlord left us a welcoming gift.” He held up a sake bottle and a couple of cups. “How about a toast to our new adventure?” He brought the bottle and cups over to the small table in front of the couch.

“I’ll toast anything with you” Uraraka answered as he poured the contents into their respective cups after sitting beside her on the couch.

“Never seen red sake before, maybe its some new company trying to mix some fruit in”? commented Midoriya as he saw the contents. He sniffed it. “It has a subtle metallic smell but also sweet.”

Uraraka replied, “well we should try it at least in case we’re asked how we liked it. Cheers!’ as she raised her cup to his. They both drank at the same time as it went down smooth. “Not bad at all" she judged as she poured herself and Midoriya another glass. They conversed as they drank the bottle down. “Deku-kun, why did you get an apartment with two rooms when you were just looking for yourself?”

Midoriya gently answered, “Well I thought if anyone would ever be nearby and needed a place for the night that I would be able to help them easier then. I wasn’t anticipating my beautiful friend needing to move in.”

“You think I’m beautiful?” Uraraka gasped.

Midoriya realizing the extra adjective that had slipped in, felt his face becoming very flushed as he shyly responded, “Maybe it was the liquid courage that made me say it out loud, but always have.” He looked down into his cup and downed the last his sake in nervousness.

Uraraka place her empty cup beside the empty bottle and leaned into Midoriya’s chest. She then whispered, “I always thought my attraction to you was one-sided.”

Midoriya wrapped his arms around her so he could see her face and gazed into her what he could only think was the epitome of bedroom eyes. Ignoring his pounding heart, he closed the distance and softly began to kiss her. The pressure on his lips was returned as Uraraka encircled her arms around him to deepen the kiss as the sun finished setting over the horizon.
