Transit Fault
-As the tram left the station and made its way to the San Cristobal Medical Facility, Abigail looked up at one of the screens and saw multiple news broadcasts about a ship that made an emergency landing at the station. The reporter, Erin Grey, went into detail about the ship and its crew, mentioning that they were scavengers following a distress beacon from a planet not near the solar system and how they found something.-
"When I asked them what the something was, they refused to elaborate. Possibly a sign from one of the multi-million dollar companies trying to keep their work under wraps. We will continue to find out more about this person and what they found later, for now, I am Erin Grey on UBS 7."
-Abigail sighed to herself, took out her phone, and started listening to some music while waiting for the tram to arrive at the Medical Facility. When it was at a certain stop, a lot of people got off the tram which surprised her making her think she got too far on the tram, then a message on the screen appeared saying that the stop to the Medical Facility was suspended and all passengers would have to find a different route there. Abigail got off the tram with the others and looked around wondering what to do as she was already close enough to the stop and far from her apartments. She decided to find a way to the facility and see what was the problem for there to be a re-route and left the station. Luckily, there was a transit that would be taking people as close to the Medical Facility and to other areas, to which she hopped on and waited for the pilot to start the journey. The pilot sealed the transit air-tight and took them outside the Orbital Station where they could see the planet they were orbiting, the sun, a few visible planets, some nearby moons, and the stars. Abigail looked out the window and enjoyed the sights as much as she could before the transit shuttle finally made it as close to the facility as possible. As the transit started to dock, the pilot turned on the intercom to speak to the other passengers,-
"Those of you wanting to get to the medical facility will need to get your IDs and a few other credentials ready. The security is cracking down hard on who they are allowed to let in. This stop will be for those going into the Financial District."
-The shuttle entered a tunnel and slowed down before interacting with docking clamps and an umbilical door to vent out the oxygen from the shuttle with the station. The doors opened with a hiss and light fog before a few people started to exit the shuttle and make their way towards their areas. The pilot exited from the cabin to look at how many were left and nodded at them before waiting a few minutes for a green light from ATC. When he got the light, he closed the doors, recycled the oxygen, sealed it in the shuttle, and waited for the umbilical and docking clamps to disengage from him. He reversed expertly out of the tunnel and made his way to the next stop: Human Resources. HR was one of the few places in the station that still used a majority of humans because, as the director of HR once told the companies, "the androids wouldn't know how to emotionally connect with a human. They are built for logic and nothing else." The pilot started his docking procedure again when he got close enough to the stop and followed the procedures like he did previously and waited for the people to load out the shuttle. He hoped that he wouldn't have to go to San Cristobal Medical until he saw that there were two other people waiting and sighed before turning on the intercom.-
"You two going to the medical facility?"
"That's right, although I can only speak for myself."
"I'm going to the medical facility."
"Alright, I hope you two got your credentials ready, I don't want to be held responsible for whatever you two do at the checkpoint."
-Abigail looked confused and turned to the person a couple of rows behind her, hoping that the person would be able to explain.-
"Oh, uh... since the arrival of our guests, reporters have tried to sneak in the facility, posing as doctors, nurses, surgeons, and such. It's really scummy if you ask me. They want the scoop so bad that they would impersonate health care workers and give false hope to our patients."
"That's so fucked up. No wonder the security wants more credentials, I don't blame them for going hard honestly."
"Neither do I, but a lot of other doctors are having a shouting contest with them because they should know everyone's faces who enter the facility."
"Security aren't androids. Well, at least not the ones at the facility, but they have more things to try and remember than our mugs. I just hope we won't be running into any reporters at the moment..."
"We might run into Erin at some point."
"I'd rather not. Erin already knows about the ship and some of the crew, I wouldn't be surprised if she knows about their cargo or what school they went to."
-During the entire conversation, the pilot left the docks and started making his way towards the medical facility. When he finally arrived and started the docking procedures, he got an alert from ATC telling him that security wanted to do a scan of the shuttle. He sighed and replied to ATC and waited for the docking clamps to secure the shuttle and begin the scan. Both Abigail and the woman waited for the doors to open and realized that something was going on between the pilot and security. When the scan was done, the pilot asked the two to stay seated as security would be making their way in to check on them. A couple of minutes later, the door hissed and four men dressed in body armor walked in the shuttle.-
"Greetings ladies, we hope you have your credentials ready. Please have them out for the remainder of the security checks as this will save you time and frustration and make our jobs a little easier."
-Abigail already had her credentials out and showed them to the officer as he approached her then walked over to the woman who also showed her credentials.-
"Alright, you two are good for this part. We'll let your pilot know when he can unload you two, for now, please be patient."
-The officer along with his other companions left the shuttle and the door closed behind them. Abigail put away her credentials someplace easily accessible to her and breathed a sigh of relief.-
"I wish we were in the clear, but I feel like we might have to pass through a few more checkpoints."
"I don't have a problem with that."
"That is until they ask you to strip."
"Well, maybe this thing on my neck will sound the alarm, but I don't have anything weird on me."
"That makes two of us then. Just have to wait for the pilot, right? Should be quick I hope."
-The pilot exited the cabin and looked towards the two ladies,-
"You two are cleared to exit. Have fun with the checkpoints and good luck in there."
-Abigail nodded as she stood up to leave,-
"We'll need it."
