Tour of the mansion.

Wonder Woman looked over at Batman with a small grin, while Superman and Martian Manhunter exchanged a nervous glance. Starfire kept her eyes glued to me again. I don't know why she was so intent in staring at me, it was actually starting to make me uncomfortable.

I ignored that instinct though, my focus was on Batman who narrowed his eyes at my flippant disregard for his authority. I couldn't help it though, I didn't like the high and mighty energy he had going on. As if he was somehow above me and had this moral high ground over me. Shit like that really got on my nerves. Sure, I had a moderate amount of respect for his superhero career, but beyond that so far what I've seen of him as a person was leaving a lot to be desired. Who knows though, that might change the more I interact with him, but I don't see that really happening.

"Look dude, you kept making that face it's gonna get stuck like that." I said.

Sensing the tense air, and ever the savior Superman awkwardly claps his hands together, "So... we are going to show you around this mansion, which is where y'all live now. Beholder Manor. So... follow us."

Him, Wonder Woman, and Martian Manhunter walked off towards the massive building. It looked like a cross between a palace and a country home. The roof had several steeples. It had a sandy coloration and the path up to the massive, rounded, alder wood, double doors was long and had several hedges. It looked like it was in pretty good upkeep, maybe they had people that still worked here until whoever Batman's contact was purchased it.

Wait.

How could he instantly purchase something. He had to have at least gone through a realtor or something. Maybe a bank to get a loan. Or maybe he bought it straight out of pocket? Who's rich enough to purchase a mansion?

Lex Luthor was out of the equation given the hostile relationship that the League and him had, especially the Kryptonian members. Simon Stagg was just an asshole so it was unlikely that he'd even consider working with the League, although Batman was also an asshole it didn't seem plausible. That logic also applied to Maxwell Lord, so he was out of the equation. Oliver Queen didn't seem the type to associate with Batman, given how happy-go-lucky he was. Ted Kord died a few years ago and his company was purchased by... Bruce Wayne.

My eyes widened slightly. Of course, Batman has a contact with Bruce Wayne. How else would he get all of his gadgets and shit? The two also live in Gotham City together and he was more than rich enough to purchase this with chump change, with an estimated net worth of 120 billion dollars and counting due to how much of mind for business the man had. This is something I'd have to look into later, maybe get someone to do some snooping and see if Wayne had some backdoor operations. I don't think the man is malicious enough to do something nefarious, but he may be funding the Batman.

Finally we made it to the front door, two sets of eyes were boring into the back of my head. I could tell exactly who they belonged to as we came to a stop, Batman and Starfire. I wasn't going to turn around and say anything, I didn't really need to antagonize Batman anymore, not until I figured out the Wayne stuff. Starfire, well I didn't even know how to approach that situation. Women didn't seem to flock to me as much as they did until now, so I'm still confused as how I could deal with it honestly.

Superman turned around and grinned at each of us, "Like I said earlier, this is Beholder Manor. The residence of your new team, the Beholders."

"Given the show of excellent teamwork that all exhibited last night, we have decided you have relative freedom when in the Manor. As not many of us very concerned with your intentions. Those among us who are, requested that you have chaperones. So you will be having a rotation between three people keeping an eye on your exploits. Starfire, Hawkwoman, and Red Lantern." Martian Manhunter said as we walked through the empty halls.

"Starfire will be the first one keeping an eye on you. Each one will be here for four months. Then they will be traded out for the next one in line. In an event that might cause another to be injured or otherwise unavailable, the current chaperone will stay for a longer time." Batman spoke up from behind the group.

Wonder Woman turned her head, "Any questions?"

No one spoke up and the rest of the tour was uneventful. The five heroes bringing us around and letting us pick bedrooms and then depositing us in the living room, the other four left, leaving Starfire behind. She looked at the seven of us with a big grin, her eyes lingering on me as she subconsciously licked her lips causing a small shiver to run down my spine.

"Well friends, perhaps introductions are in order? I am Koriand'r but in English that translates to Starfire!" She said with a big smile, pointing at the grey witch, "I already know who you are friend Jinx, but the rest I don't know."

Each of us looked at each other in silence. Seeing no one in a big rush to say anything i cleared my throat causing Starfire to look at me again. Was it just me or did she look hungry?

"I'm Azure. Uh... Off the field you can just call me Nick."

"Megan Morse."

"JJ Williams."

"Grace Choi. No special codename."

"I am known as Viza'Aziv."

"I don't think I really have to introduce myself either." Mongal grunted.

Starfire smiled widely, "You do not need to be worried friend Mongal. You are on our side now!"

The woman in questions stony visage softened slightly as a small smile etched itself onto her face. As soon as it was there, though, it was gone. Which was a shame. It was a good look for her, I wish she would smile more.
