Chapter 142 by Leoblade24 Leoblade24

What story should Starfire tell?

The Story of Teyvat and sudden godhood

“What’s the story behind this one?” Asked Laura holding up one photo and a little branch taped to it. The picture showed Starfire and James beating up an old man in a large office. The old man was in long robes and a broken monocle while long stemmed flowers kept him tied up.

“Is that an elf,” Rayla suddenly asked in shock. Laura looked at the photo and saw a little girl with pointed ears, white hair, and a green and white dress.

“That is little Nahida, an adorable little bumgorf we rescued,” Starfire squealed as she described Nahida. “James and I had decided to go on a grand adventure in a world called Teyvat where people could earn magic by performing a task worthy of praise. I had gained pyro magic by holding up a collapsing ruin while our fellow adventurers escaped while James got dendro magic from creating a flower that cured an impossible disease.”

“Wait, how did he cure a disease?” Asked Aelita, not quite expecting that. “He never had control over plants like that; making them change species and suddenly grow but his control over what they could do wasn’t to that extent.”

(Flashback)

Starfire, Bennett, and you were walking along the path in Gandharva Village. You had a large bundle of white flowers in your hands and were handing them out to everyone.

“Thank you, mister James!” said a pair of kids who took the flowers and ran off. You waved them off before giving a pair to a Vanara Elder.

“Oh, what's the occasion?” The Elder asked as she started weaving the flower into her dress.

“Just thanking the Forest Rangers and everyone for saving us,” you explain, referring to the attack by a large group of hilichurls on your camp. Your adventure team had been going through the border between Liyue and Sumeru on a commission to deliver something to a researcher when the hilichurls attacked. The Forest Rangers had rescued your group after the monsters toppled a tree cutting off the escape. They saved you and your group and gave you all shelter while you healed.

“How interesting, I do not recognize this flower,” said Tighnari, the furry eared former researcher. He was holding up the flower that Starfire handed him to the light as if to try to discover its secrets.

“Yeah, I'm thinking of calling them Star Aslettas,” you say as you pick out one of the better flowers. The reason for this was that Collei was approaching. The trainee forest ranger was still recovering from a relapse of Eleazer symptoms and was being eased back into things.

“A beautiful flower for a recovering lady,” you say as you present the Star Asletta that nearly shone in the light. Collei tentatively took the flower from your hand and gave it a little sniff.

“Are you implying that you created this flower?” Tighnari asked you with an intense look on his face.

“Yeah, I tried recreating one from home and I like how it turned out,” you say, putting away the flowers as it appeared no one else was coming up to take one.

“When did you have the time to–” Tighnari starts to question you but was interrupted by a startled cry from Collei.

“What’s happening!?” She cries as the flower wraps itself around her wrist and thorns start sprouting. Tighnari and you rush to help her with Tighnari getting a knife to try to cut the flower away. You see the flower had broken the skin in the dark scales she has due to Eleazer disease. You stopped Tighnari by grabbing the hand he had with the knife.

“Wait, look!” You say urging Collei to look at her forearm. The dark scales appear to be flowing into the stem of the flower. Soon the scales were all gone and the flower fell off dead and now a midnight black color. Staring at the now clear skin, Tighnari suddenly spoke up.

“We need to get to my lab now,” he said excitedly.

(Flashback End)

“Friend Tighnari had him create even more flowers and delivered them to the main hospital in Sumeru where many people were helped,” Starfire frowned as she tried to recall the memory. “He said something about the flower absorbing bad energy and blocking it off. After he lost his vision at the end of the summer he couldn’t remember what he did exactly.”

“He was blind?!” Gaige exclaimed as she dropped the bangle she was looking at.

“No, sorry, a vision was a gem that let us use the local magic,” Starfire explained. “They gave valuable skills that were sadly lost when we ran into a local god.” Starfire was about to continue her story

“Why are you beating up an old man?” Blake asked suspiciously as she saw the scared expression on the girl’s face.

“I was going to get to that,” Starfire wilted a bit at the interruption. Decided to skip ahead a bit she continued. “While we were helping the victims with their illness and getting an honor for the cure we discovered that the villainous Grand Sage was keeping Nahida in a divine cage to power an information network.”

“They were using her as a magic battery!” Rayla shouted in anger.

“Yeah, I do not quite recall but when…” Starfire gave a quick rundown of Nahida’s background and her position in Sumeru. “...the sages were very lucky that Nahida was so gentle. She could have destroyed them if she was less merciful.”

“So you, James, and Bennett launched a rescue mission,” Rayla said with a considering smile on her face.

“Yes, it was unlike the one in what they call the ‘canon’ game,” Starfire said a little sheepishly. “Due to some bad luck we had, some local friends were arrested before they could help and we had to change the plan. We freed Nahida with my strength and James’s plants and went to confront the Grand Sage. It was very easy to subdue the guards and then we beat down the Grand Sage while we set the camera to take the photo. The Grand Sage was very insulting to both us and Nahida.”

“He deserved what happened,” Rayla said darkly as she glared at the photo with many of the harem members nodding in agreement.

“When we left the building...”

(Flashback)

You were walking through the Akademiya with Starfire by your side and Bennett carrying Nahida. You had the Grand Sage tied up in flowers and dragging behind you as you made sure his head hit every step and corner.

“You won’t get away with this,” the Grand Sage groaned.

“I think we will,” you counter as you pass by a group of guards you had knocked out earlier.

“James, please, listen to me,” Nahida pleaded. “I need to go back, the Akasha Terminal…”

“We can go back once we get the others free,” you say as you push open the exit doors. You look around and immediately see a bunch of Eremites, guards, and civilians in the middle of the pathway keeping a distance from the flowers and gardens along the path. One person quickly ran up to you and Starfire while Bennett hung back; you recognized her as Nilou, one of Nahida’s worshipers.

“God of Flowers, please stop your **** on the city,” she begged as she bowed to Starfire. You and Starfire looked at each other confused.

“What ****?” You questioned carefully. “If you are referring to the rescue of Nahida, we’re already done.”

“Flowers have been coming to life and attacking guards and anyone who tries to fight them,” Nilou explained as one flower nearby gained teeth like Audrey from Little Pet Shop of Horrors and lashed at a guard. You quickly used your powers over plants to turn it back into a normal Sumeru rose along with all the other hostile plants in the area. Nilou looked at your raised glowing hand and gaped.

“Oh, you’re the Lord of Flowers,” she said, surprised. You debate for a few seconds before making a decision.

“Maybe? I can make flowers do a lot of things,” you say, making a flower sprout from a pot next to you, it being a purple padisarah.

“He’s the God of Flowers reborn!” Shouted an Eremite as the crowd started bowing.

“This is Kusanali by the way,” you said, moving aside to reveal Nahida.

(Flashback End)

“I bet he milked his sudden godhood for all its worth,” Katara shook her head. Starfire gained a bit of a disgruntled look but let it go.

“James quickly had our friends freed and after a fight with a strange doctor and a puppet,” a couple of the girls raised an eyebrow at that. “He was able to get most of the results like it was in the game except he let the God of Flowers rumor spread. It might have backfired.”

“How so?” Several voices asked, causing Ahsoka and Suki to look at each other.

“They mostly had the stories of the previous God of Flowers who was a woman,” Starfire said. “So whenever someone heard the God of Flowers was arriving, they would look at me instead. When corrected, they would only look at James and say, ‘my apologies miss’.” Starfire laughed. “He would make the most hilarious face.”

“That must have been embarrassing for the civilians, as well,” Ahsoka replied.

“Some were mortified at the mistaken identity but James forgave them,” Starfire reassured them. “After the rescue, we spent much of the rest of the adventure helping turn the desert more hospitable before passing through Liyue and smuggling ourselves into Inazuma where we lost our visions. We did run into some trouble and were arrested a few times due to the local gods not liking foreign gods passing through unannounced but we got free in the end.”

“That must’ve been something,” Marinette said as she held the branch that came with the picture up to the light. Starfire gently took the branch back and set it with the picture back in the photo album.

“It was quite fun, I think we still have some of our weapons in storage somewhere,” Starfire thought.

“We can look for it later,” Kate said as she handed a photo to Starfire. “What’s the story behind this one?” Starfire gave the photo a look and said…

What is the next story to tell?
