Chapter 4 by HolyFate HolyFate

What is the episode?

The Siren's Second Scheme!

As he entered Commissioner Gordon's office, Robin had an uneasy feeling. He was flying solo this week, as Bruce Wayne was on a business trip to Metropolis. Gordon had summoned him to his office, asking for Robin's help on a new case. The Commissioner knew that Robin was alone this week, and it meant a lot to Robin that Gordon still trusted him for a case even without Batman. Still, for some reason, Robin felt nervous. "Though," Robin thought, "I could always ask Batgirl for help if the case proves to be too difficult, she's been a great addition to the team."

Robin was eager for any excuse to see Batgirl, he'd developed a serious crush on her over the past few weeks. He could tell the feeling was mutual, but he wasn't sure how to proceed; dating with secret identities was complicated, to say the least.

The Commissioner rose from his desk as Robin entered.

"Ah, Boy Wonder! I'm glad you came. There's something you need to hear."

"What is it, Commissioner?" asked Robin.

"This." said a feminine voice from behind Robin. Before he could react, an ear piercing wail filled the room. Robin was immediately in agony; he placed his gloved hands over his ears, but it wasn't enough to block out the horrendous sound. His head felt like it was being split open by an axe.

A glass on Gordon's desk shattered, followed by the lightbulb in his desk lamp. Robin saw the Commissioner was also suffering from the horrible sound, and watched as he passed out face first on his desk. Robin too began to feel himself lose consciousness, and he sank to the floor. The last thing he saw was a pair of shapely legs in silver wrapped sandals, slowly walking towards him.

Robin awoke, sometime later, and found himself tied to a chair. He looked around; he was no longer in Gordon's office, but appeared to be in a strangely themed apartment. Robin had been around super villains enough to know he must be in one of their lairs. And he thought he knew who the villain must be, or in this case, villainess.

"Welcome to the land of the living, Bird Boy" came a mellifluous, English accented voice.

It was just who Robin suspected. A woman, dressed in a silver mini dress with an extravagant bouffant hairdo stepped in front of him. She was petit, but had gorgeous curves in all the right places. Robin recognized her immediately.

"The Siren!" he exclaimed. He had encountered the sinister songstress once before. She had had the ability to hypnotize men into doing her bidding by singing a note two octaves above High C. She had succeeded in placing Bruce Wayne in her power, but was foiled by Robin and Batgirl, who **** Siren to sing an antidote note to her mesmerized minions, both freeing them, and destroying her hypnotic voice. Though it seemed to Robin that her voice had recovered and changed, she must now have the ability to sing a note to knock people ****.

The Siren smirked at Robin. “Ah, I’m so glad you remember me, Boy Wonder. I certainly remember you,” she said, her smirk transforming into a cold scowl.

“What’s your game, Siren? Why have you brought me here?” Robin asked. Years of experience told him that he had to get her talking, to learn more about her plan and to buy him time to escape.

“My game? Why, it’s simple, my dear boy. ****!” She spread her arms wide with a dramatic flair.

“****? **** on who?” Though the answer was obvious, Robin needed more time to discreetly work on getting out of his bind.

“Why, you and that wretched Batgirl, of course. I almost had everything I ever wanted, until you two showed up and spoiled my plans. I’ve had to dwell on the humiliation I suffered at your hands, sitting in my jail cell for months, waiting for my voice to be restored. But now, it is you who will be humiliated, my dear little bird!” The Siren laughed, Robin resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He could feel the ropes loosening, he just needed a bit more time.

“So that was your voice that knocked me out. Though since I’m not hypnotized, I take it you never fully recovered your powers.”

A smile formed on the Siren’s beautiful face. “Don’t be so sure, Boy Wonder.” She turned, and called out, “Oh, Jimmy?”

In walked Commissioner Gordon, a wide grin plastered across his face.

“What is it you need, oh beautiful Siren? I’m yours to command.”

The Siren stroked Gordon’s cheek. “My guest requires a demonstration. Commissioner, kiss my feet.”

Gordon immediately got down on the floor and started kissing the Siren’s sandaled feet. The Siren smiled, and stared at Robin.

“You were saying? As you can see, he’s completely in my power. Jimmy, stop. You may return to police headquarters, you're no longer needed.”

Gordon got up, and left the room.

The Siren circled around Robin, like a predator with her prey, and ran her hand across his shoulders. “I’ve had him under my spell for a few days now, with orders to alert me when there was an opportunity to get Robin away from Batman. He’s been such a good boy.”

Robin was starting to get nervous. “Why? If you can control the Commissioner, why not just get both Batman and I at the same time? What’s the matter, don’t think you can take on Batman?”

The Siren frowned. “You’ll soon be rid of your insolent tone, boy. The answer again, is quite simple. First, I’ll admit, my powers aren’t exactly the same as they used to be. The hypnotic effect is no longer instantaneous, nor can I ensnare men over the telephone, so now I require a more, shall we say, captive audience to ensure the proper effect. Secondly, to maximize your humiliation, and my dominance, I wanted to be able to explain exactly how I am going to use you to put an end to Batman and Batgirl. You're going to help me ruin their reputations and turn the whole city against them. Once you’re under my spell, you’ll do anything I ask. You’ll betray your morals, betray your crime fighting vows, and betray your friends, all to please me. I wanted to see the look on your face when you realized I’d won, and you’d soon be my ****. Ah, there it is…”

The Siren stroked Robin’s cheek now. “Just relax, and listen...”

Robin furiously began to struggle against the ropes as the Siren unleashed her note, three octaves above High C. Her voice had a reverberating quality, it sounded like it came directly from his own brain.

“Ignore it,” thought Robin, trying to resist the effect of the note. “Think about… Batgirl! Think about… think about… Siren… Siren…

He began to stare at the gorgeous Siren, and listened. As she sang, Robin could feel his free will slipping away. He no longer tried to fight; it felt so good to just listen. Though her note continued to be a continuous high-pitched whine, in Robin’s brain, her song was heavenly, her voice was truly beautiful. Robin felt euphoric, and soon enough, all he had no thoughts, all he could comprehend was the Siren.

The Siren smiled. "Now, Robin, you are ready to do my bidding."

Robin smiled back.

"You're merest wish is my ultimate command, oh beautiful Siren!"
