The Hero's Hood

...a hat that looked almost identical to the one that Link had always worn, green and pointy, with a tip that flopped down to the side. "This is the Hero's Hood," the salesman told Ruto. "It is a mask fashioned after a legendary figure from the past. It would do well to help you in your quest."

The Princess was unsure if this was the best mask for getting Link back to her, but it was what he had offered. Letting out a long, dramatic sigh, she asked him, "How much is the mask, salesman?"

The question seemed to amuse the salesman, who merely chuckled and replied. "Why, nothing of course! Consider it a gift!" As he handed it to her, his eyes turned dark and dangerous as he finished, "Of course, gifts always come with a price, in the end." And then...he was gone. Ruto couldn't sense any magical teleportation or spell, he was just gone. Trying not to think about the creepy man, Ruto used her Sage magic to transport herself directly to her place of power, Lake Hylia. Once there, she decided it was time, and put the hat on her head.
