The Globe
By the time Missy excited the bathroom herself, having wrapped a towel around her naked body, Elena was already dressed. "I need to bounce, I have a class in half an hour. Will I see you later?" Missy shrugged. "Probably won't be back in our room until around lunch time, don't have my first class until this afternoon but I was going to visit the Globe's newsroom this morning." Elena frowned in confusion and then Missy explained. "Oh... probably didn't talk about our Majors yet. I'm a journalism major. I also wrote for the school newspaper in my previous school. I hope to do the same for the River Valley Globe." Elena smiled and nodded. "Well good luck with that. I don't know much about the Globe, other than the fact that their current editor in chief is a bit of a nerd. And definitely a hard-ass. Trevor Saltzman. But I guess you'll find that out for yourself. Good luck!" With that, her roomie was gone. Missy herself got dressed in a light little Summer dress. Like the day before, it was a gloriously sunny day outside. After applying her make-up, she rode the elevator down to the ground floor and left the dorm.
The Globe had its 'newsroom' in a few offices that had been granted to the school newspaper inside of what was the Bertram Wallace Memorial Library. Bertram Wallace being an alumnus who had donated quite a bit of money to the school in the first half of the twentieth century. The Globe had its space on the second floor and she knocked and then went into the door marked as belonging to the Globe. Around a dozen people were inside, some of them working on computers, others of them clearly doing research. Three were having an impromptu meeting inside a cordoned off space and it was one of them who looked up at her arrival. "Yeah... can we help you? This is a private space. Only Globe staff are allowed in here." She nodded her head to signal she was well aware of this. "I know this is the Globe's newsroom. I'm Missy Madison, a transfer... I'm a journalism major and at my previous school I was a writer for the Crestview Gazette... The paper at my previous university." The young man who had addressed her approached her and nodded his head. He was a little bit taller than her, with spectacles and curly hair, and a facial expression that was slightly amused. "Got it... I'm Trevor Saltzman, editor-in-chief. Well, I don't know how things were done at your previous school... Missy was it? But we don't just accept walk-ins to join our editorial staff. There is a process." He fished a very old-fashioned looking business card out of his front shirt pocket and handed it to her. "My email address is on there. Send me your application through there. And include six writing samples from... what was it called again? The Crestview Gazette? If you are Globe material, I will be in touch... Now if you will excuse us..." He gently guided her back to the door by the arm, and before she realized it, she had been ushered back out quite unceremoniously, like a thoroughly unwelcome guest. "How rude..."
