The Family Reaction

The word about Zack and Ashley being a part of a throuple was now getting around Duskville. Amber just happened to be going for her yearly OB/GYN appointment and Monica Bishop just happened to be her doctor, so she couldn’t help but say something to the older woman about it.

“I think Zack and Ashley make a good couple. I am just surprised that they are together, when Zack was already with Heather.” Amber said.

“I didn’t know anything about this to tell you the truth. I have to say that I have been wanting my son to get with Ashley for years.” Monica said in a bit of shock and also excitement.

“Well, he sure is one of the talks going around school today. The other was the new and improved Chloe. She had on clothes that showed off her body, which is definitely a change from the baggy clothes that she normally wears.” Amber said.

“I had a feeling that was what that shopping trip was for this weekend. I am happy that Chloe is finally comfortable enough to show off some of her body. This will only help her with the boys.” Monica said with a smile.

“I don’t think that is a problem either. It looks like she is already with Brandon.” Amber said.

“That is not all that surprising. They are both some of the biggest sports stars at the school. They will make a good couple because of that.” Monica said and Amber nodded as Monica was finishing up her exam.

“Well, everything looks good. I will see you in another year.” Monica said as she finished the exam and left so that the younger woman could get dressed again.

When Monica came back, she gave Amber her appointment card and said, “Here is your appointment card. Call us if you need to reschedule. Also, thank you for giving me the news about Zack.”

“Not a problem Dr. Bishop. I will see you later.” Amber said as she left the office and made her way home.

Once back in her office, Monica picked up her phone and dialed a familiar number. It took about three rings before the other end picked up.

“What can I do for you, Monica?” the voice answered.

“I just thought you should know what I just heard from a student at the high school.” Monica said.

“Well, don’t keep me hanging here.” the voice said.

“It appears that my son and your daughter are now an item.” Monica said as she heard a gasp from the other end of the phone.

“Are you serious! It’s about fucking time.” Sarah said from the other end of the phone.

“Yep. I just had an appointment with Amber, who is on the cheer squad and she told me that they are together.” Monica said.

“Oh my God! I am so happy about this. It’s finally happening.” Sarah said.

“I know. As soon as I was alone I let out a big squeal of excitement.” Monica said.

“Well, who is going to tell our daughters about this?” Sarah asked.

“I think we should call and tell our own daughters. I think it might go over better that way.” Monica said and Sarah couldn’t help but agree.

“What about Zack and Heather?” Sarah asked.

“From what Amber said, they are still together.” Monica said.

“Damn. I didn’t know Zack had it in him. This could be a problem though.” Sarah said in concern.

“Yeah, it could be, but I am not going to let that get me down until it happens though.” Monica said.

“That is a good point. We should just be happy about this for the time being.” Sarah said and Monica agreed.

“Well, I think it is time to call Taylor and tell her what is going on.” Monica said.

“Yeah, I should probably call Hannah as well. Thanks for letting me know about this Monica. I am so happy.” Sarah said.

“Me too. I will talk to you later. Good bye.” Monica said and Sarah did the same as they hung up their phones so that they could call their daughters.

“Hello Mom. I wasn’t expecting a call from you today.” Taylor said as she answered her cell phone.

“Normally I wouldn’t have called, but there has been a development with your brother.” Monica said.

“What’s wrong with Zack? Is he sick?” Taylor asked in a worried tone.

“Oh, no. Nothing is wrong sweetie. It is good news. Your brother and Ashley are now together.” Monica said.

“Oh my God! Yes! Finally those two got their heads out of their butts and got together.” Taylor said in excitement.

“Yes they did. The only complication is that your brother is also with Heather.” Monica said.

“Heather and Ashley are best friends. I don’t think it will be a problem. Heather probably had this all lined up all along, knowing her.” Taylor said.

“You make a good point. Heather would be one to line something like this up. She reminds me a bit of myself at that age.” Monica said with a smile as she remembered her younger years.

“Well, I thought I would let you know because you and Hannah have been wanting this for years. Sarah is supposed to be calling Hannah to give her the news.” Monica said.

Just then Taylor heard a scream from the other room. “I think Sarah just told Hannah. I just heard her scream from her room.” Taylor said.

Monica couldn’t help but laugh at this. She had known Hannah for her whole life and knew how she would react to this news.

“Sounds like what I was expecting from her. Well, I will let go. I just wanted to give you the good news.” Monica said.

“Thanks Mom. I will talk to you later.” Taylor said.

Good bye, sweetie.” Monica said as she hung up and sat back in her chair with a content smile on her face.

“Hello, Mother. I haven’t done anything bad to warrant this call have I?” Hannah said, which earned a life from her mother.

“No, nothing like that dear. I just wanted to call and give you the good news.” Sarah said.

“Well, I am always in the mood for good news. What is this news?” Hannah asked.

“It appears that your sister and Zack have finally recognized their feelings for each other and are now together.” Sarah said.

“Yes! Yes! Yes! I can’t believe this is finally happening!” Hannah screamed.

“Calm down dear. He is still with Heather too. I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing.” Sarah said.

“Everything will be fine mom. Heather probably got this together if I know anything about her, which I do since I am the one who taught her how to have fun, if you know what I mean.” Hannah said.

“I know exactly what you mean, Hannah. Anyway, I just thought you should know what was going on with your sister and Zack.” Sarah said.

“Thanks mom. I am so happy about this. It is about time, don’t you think?” Ashley asked.

“Yeah, Monica and I thought the same thing. I will let you go. I will talk to you soon.” Sarah said and Hannah did the same as they hung up their phones.

Monica later called her husband to let him know the news. She didn’t want to do this in front of Zack and embarrass him, so she figured she would get it over with now.

“Hey Mon. What’s going on?” Gregory asked.

“I got good news today. Zack and Ashley are finally together.” Monica said.

“That’s great, babe. What about Heather?” Gregory asked.

“They are still together, but Taylor helped me feel better about that part of things. I just hope she is right.” Monica said.

“Our daughter is smart. I am sure she is right. I just hope Zack knows what he is doing though.” Gregory said.

“Yeah, me too. This could all go very badly.” Monica said.

“It could, but we need to have faith that our son knows what he is doing.” Gregory said.

“I know. I just don’t want to see him get hurt, but I am so happy about this.” Monica said.

“I can tell. Anyway, I need to get back to work. I will see you at home tonight.” Gregory said as he and Monica hung up their phones.

After Sarah hung up with her daughter, she decided to call her husband and let him know the news. It took a few rings, but the call was finally answered.

“Hello, Sarah. What can I do for you?” Damon asked.

“I just had to let you know the good news about Ashley. She and Zack are together.” Sarah said.

“That is good that you finally got your wish, but what about Heather? Did they break up?” Damon asked.

“No, they are still together.” Sarah said.

“I don’t know if I am happy about this, Sarah. It sounds like something Hannah would do and I didn’t think that Ashley was like that. I will reserve my judgment on this though. As long as Ashley is happy, I will be happy for her, but I don’t know how this will work out.” Damon said.

“I thought the same thing at one point, but I am going to let them give this a chance. Our daughter is smart. I think she has thought all of this though before going through with it.” Sarah said.

“I am sure you are right about that. I am happy for her nonetheless\. Just a bit surprised is all.” Damon said.

“Me too. I will let you get back to work. I will see you tonight.” Sarah said as she hung up her phone and got back to work herself.
