Chapter 9 by Artican Artican

Will Sue be able to return with Gambit and Rogue?

Sue walks into a trap!

To prove Janet’s assessment wrong, Sue decided to try out her new disguise instead of going invisible; she could always resort to that if things went south. She marched through the hallway doing the best imitation of a security guard she could come up with, scanning around for other guards in the vicinity. Fortunately there were none in her way as she made it down to Gambit and Rogue.

She reached the doorway to the room they were in and noticed that the door was left slightly ajar. Gambit had left the door open for her. She stepped inside and looked around. The room was the same as it had appeared on the security monitor. Janet should be able to see what was happening in there too.

Sue walked around the ante chamber and into the bedroom, where she caught the two lovers in mid coitus. Rogue leaned over on the bed with her legs spread and butt perked up in the air as Gambit gave it to her from behind, both facing away from the Invisible Woman.

Their moans and heavy breathing was audible from where Sue was standing and they didn’t notice as she approached. It took her clearing her throat for them to stop mid thrust to turn around.

“Ahem!” she interrupted.

Gambit turned around and gave a sheepish grin, realizing he had been caught screwing around on the job. Rogue was more shocked about the interruption, giving an audible gasp and grabbing the sheets to cover up.

“Madame Storm, Ah have found Rogue!” Gambit said with a scoundrel’s shrug.

“I see you’ve done more than just find her,” Sue replied, then asked Rogue, “Are you alright?”

“Well, ah was about to be a lot better until you interrupted,” Rogue teased, giving Remy a devious wink with a glint in her eye.

“Sorry about that, but this is not time for hanky panky,” Susan said, “We’ve got a super villain to stop!”

“But of course,” Gambit nodded, already getting dressed. “Chere, let’s get you out o’ dat collar so you can pitch in!”

“Not so fast!” Called out a guard.

Sue turned to see a group of five armed soldiers blocking the entranceway.

“How?!” she blurted out, throwing up her bubble shield.

“You don’t think we’d have security sensors in this room? We’ve been monitoring it since the thief came in!” the guard answered.

“Merde... “ Gambit muttered. “Let’s see if watching is all you’re good for!” In a flash, cards exploded in front of the guards and they reeled back in defense. Gambit threw on his trenchcoat and led the ladies to the back as Sue blocked the blind fire with her bubble shield.

“Now what?” Sue asked. “We’re blocked off!”

“Den we’ll ‘ave to make our own exit!” Gambit announced. The Cajun set off more explosions around the room to cover their escape. There was a ruckus of detonations leaving smoke and fluttering pillow feathers in the air. In the cover of smoke, Gambit charged up a nightstand. “A little protection from blowin’ us up in the process, s’il vous plait?”

Susan bubbled up the nightstand, leaving only an opening for the bottom. It exploded like an aimed cannon, into the floor, leaving a large gaping hole. The guards waited for the smoke to clear before they swept the area. One of the men found the hole, large enough to fit a man through.

“They went to the lower floor,” he radioed in. “We’re in pursuit!” He nodded to the others and they took turns coming through.

One floor below, Gambit was leading the trio through the maze-like hallways of the lower floor.

“Which way?” Sue asked.

“Yer guess is as good as mine,” Remy replied.

“Where are we going anyways?” Rogue asked.

“Elevator, so we can meet up with Wasp,” Sue explained.

“Well, ah might be able to help with that, if the layout’s the same as the floor ah was on…” Rogue replied, pointing toward a direction from under her blanket. They followed the X-woman down the corridor and around a corner, but that’s where one of the guards spotted them.

“There!” he shouted, raising his firearm at the group. Before he could bark anything else, Rogue threw her blanket over him, temporarily distracting him so they could scurry past. By the time he pulled the blanket off, they had disappeared. Literally. A few paces away, Invisible Woman had her hands on both Gambit and Rogue, rendering them all invisible. Rogue continued to lead the way as the three remained in constant contact to keep up the invisibility.

“That should be it!” Rogue whispered to the others as they peeked around a corner to see a door guarded by two men.

“Didn’t think it’d be so easy,” Gambit admitted. “Shall we rush dem?”

“Wait, if you take off mah collar, ah can knock them out without a fuss!” Rogue offered.

“There’s no way you’re running down that hall unnoticed!” Sue pointed out. Rogue reactively covered her ample bosom and hunched down in embarrassment. “And I wouldn’t be able to keep you invisible without touching you,” Sue added.

There were more guards trampling through the halls, shouting out orders. The three heroes tucked into a side room to avoid them.

“Isolate the signal! Then move in!” called out one of the superiors.

“What signal?” Rogue asked.

Something dawned on Sue. “I put on one of their uniforms… do you think they could use that to track us?”

“C’est possible…” Gambit agreed.

“Alright! New plan! I’ll lead them all away and you two can sneak in,” Sue told them.

“On your own?!” Rogue asked.

“You can’t be serious!” Gambit added.

“Don’t worry, I’ll ditch the tracker and get back to you!” Sue assured them. “We can’t fight all these guards alone and even if we could, it’d just give Arkade more time to come up with a plan against us now that he knows we’re here! We need to get to him fast and take him out before he can regroup!”

Gambit and Rogue looked at each other and then at Sue.

“Ah don’t like it, but ah’ll back you up, Sugah,” Rogue told her rescuer.

Gambit nodded, then reaffirmed, “We won’t leave wit’out you.”

“If I’m not back in five minutes, you’d better, or you’ll be overrun with guards!” she warned them before slipping out. Turning invisible, she dashed back down the hallway. After moving for a far enough distance, she slipped into another side room and found a dark corner to shed her uniform. She grimaced at having to go naked again, but better that than being tracked by the enemy. The clothes reappeared as a pile on the ground. She then headed out to find guards already barreling down for her!

She easily side stepped them as they continued into the room to discover her discarded clothing. Meanwhile more guards blocked the corridor on both sides. The ones inside the room were already shouting about the clothing, so Susan thought ‘thin’ and tried to squeeze through the bulky figures blocking her way.

“Got something!” Cried one of the guards! Susan felt a firm hand grasp her arm! She immediately shot out a concussive blast with her other hand but he dodged it and **** her to the ground! “Get the collar on her! Quick!” he cried to his partner.

Invisible Woman wrestled with the two guardsmen, trying to push them both off with an invisible barrier. The guard with the power dampening collar was thrown to the wall, but the other man’s grip held strong. By now, the armed guards had surrounded her. She shuddered in horror as she heard the audible click of the power dampener around her neck. With all her will she tried to muster a shield, invisibility or even a tiny bubble, but she was powerless!

How can Sue get out of this predicament now?
