Chapter 6 by Bruhdashcon Bruhdashcon

Should you leave, or stay and meet the resident of this cave?

Stay

Deciding to stay in the home of a perfect stranger to welcome him home after a hard day of work in the mines doesn't seem like a particularly smart idea, but you were confident in your ability to run away if danger struck.

The whistling, now closer to you, had started to take on a more somber tone, and the rolling of the card seemed to stop with the conclusion of it smashing into a wall of some sort. If you were to guess, perhaps he deposited it somewhere while he comes back to his residence.

Into your view arrives a very stout, and very hairy man. It takes you a little bit to realize it, but this is in fact a dwarf, or something of similar nature. He is clothed in overalls, and his hairy, carpeted chest is left bear, exposed to the cave air. His nose is larger than human average and his mouth is covered with a brown beard that reaches down to his pectorals. The most standout feature of his figure being his stout nature, being around five foot, give or take a few inches either way. Despite his short body, he undoubtedly outweighs you, owing to his muscular arms and legs, and what you assume to be a muscular beer belly.

When the shorter, stockier man first sees you, he jumps a little, but other than that is surprisingly non-conflicted over your intrusion into his abode.

"Ah, hello there, Human. I hope you speak the regional language?" He says in a somber tone, as if reflecting on something and hiding his sadness poorly.

"Oh, Um, yes. I do. I am sorry for the intrusion, sir." Sir? why Sir? you were never very big on honorifics back when you- well you guess when you weren't dead. Either way, the Dwarf seems happy that he is able to communicate with you.

"You must be looking to go further down, yes? Though I must warn you, scaled creatures they build their nests deep in this cave's recesses. If you go down there, competent as you look, you better be prepared to fight." He says these words with gravity, giving you the impression he isn't just trying to scare you out of going to down, but is genuinely worried for your well being. He pipes up again, saying "Oh, but if you are spare of some time, would you not join me for tea, or perhaps some ale? I don't get many adventurers who wait for the dungeon keeper to appear before they venture deeper."

You get the impression that this man is pretty lonely down here. Perhaps you would like to stay for a while? Or would you like to continue deeper into the newly revealed (to you) dungeon depths?

What's next?
