Sophie tried her best to cool her jets and considered her options carefully. “Say Cheese!” was gonna involve pictures, so that’s a no go. “Oops-a-Daisy” could involve her piece falling backwards on the board or something. “Descending Dilemma” sounded bad, but often these board game designers love making things sound bad and the innocent options are the actual bad ones.

Sophie grabbed the card she wanted, and read aloud, “Descending Dilemma. Punishment. Gravity is not your friend. Try as you might, its inevitable pull drags everything southward… Uhh… What? This game’s got some weird mechanics I guess. Gravity? Hmmmm…”

But Mia wasn’t listening, as she was paying more attention to the sound she didn’t hear. No SCHWOOP. All three ladies saw what Mia was staring at and realized what was going on.

The remaining two cards remained sticking out of the board.

Sophie read the end of her challenge from before as she discarded it. “Rewards are shared,” she said, “Are you happy, Faith? You’ve painted a huge target on your back with this.”

“I told you I didn’t mean to…” said Faith. She looked down in shame and tilted her head in confusion, unsure of what came over her moments before.

Mia assessed her remaining options. “Oops-a-Daisy” or “Say Cheese!”
