Sophie 1: Mia's Oops-a-Daisy Punishment pick and a minor roadblock

Mia didn’t like the idea of taking a picture for every roll in this silly board game, so she opted for the other one. She grabbed her chosen card and the other sucked back into the board with a SCHWOOP.

Mia read her card aloud. “Oops-a-Daisy. Punishment. You will fumble even the simplest tasks into an unintentional comedy of errors. What’s with this game, Sophie?” she said.

Sophie really had no clue on what these cards were getting at. Sophie said, “First gravity and now fumbling. What was your card again, cheater?”

“I wasn’t trying to cheat! That was an accident!” said Faith as she handed over her card.

Sophie and Mia both read the Loot Goblin card and still came up empty. Sophie shrugged and just said, “Let’s move on.” She handed the dice to Mia.

This game was getting under Mia’s skin a little at this point. She blew on the dice for luck, and tossed them at the board. One landed in the tray while the other sailed right past and bounced under the ottoman that Faith was sitting on. Mia leaned forward to retrieve the lost die, just as Faith was bending over as well. The duo bonked heads and sat back up, grunting and rubbing their noggins.

“Sorry, I’ll let you get it,” said Mia as she rubbed her forehead.

Faith grabbed the die and handed it back to Mia, who promptly dropped it into the tray.

“Alright! Twelve!” cheered Mia. She looked down at her two sixes, then looked at her piece that stayed still. “Hmm? Why’s it stuck?” she asked. Mia grabbed her piece and tried forcing it forward, to no avail. She scooped back up the dice and re-rolled, figuring maybe she needed to roll both at once. “Eleven?” Mia asked again.

Still, her mailbox stood perfectly still on the tenth space.

“Look!” Sophie said, pointing to the starting space. The unused pizza box game piece was at the starting line.

“Huh? But there’s only three of us. Why’d you put that there?” asked Mia. She tried prying it off the board but came up short as well.

Both other girls denied putting anything anywhere, and the whole trio devolved into a minor finger pointing argument for a few moments.

Faith, unusually taking the role of the voice of reason, cut through the arguments by saying, “We probably just bumped the piece into that position. Let’s just quit and do something else already.”

“No way! The perv feels up my ass and now she wants to stop?” growled Sophie.

Mia began saying, “Well, what’re we gonna do, the game won’t let-” but Sophie had a solution and cut her off by putting a finger to Mia’s mouth and shushing her.

“I’ve got an idea. You stay right here. Faith, come with me,” said Sophie as she stood up from the floor.

Faith was very competitive when it came to games, but didn’t like her reputation being tarnished, so she did everything in her power to clear her “cheater” moniker. She really didn’t know why she spanked Sophie, but didn’t really have time to think about it yet.

Faith huddled with Sophie by the kitchen island, and after a few seconds they were in agreement. There’s only one way, and Mia wasn’t going to like it. But Sophie and Faith wouldn’t let it be up to Mia.

Sophie hiked up her jeans, and the duo walked shoulder to shoulder to Lucy’s bedroom door. Mia tried to whisper a plea to stop them, but they ignored her. Faith just whispered back, “It’ll be fiiiine. We’ll mend the burnt bridge, I swear.”
