Chapter 24
by Corruption
Where do you go?
Somewhere with witnesses!
You want somewhere that you being there would make sense, and give you witnesses. Having resources was a benefit.
You headed to the library.
There were some books for sale, and you brought a copy of a First Aid manual and book on knots. Both together cost you $14.50.
Using Observe on them as you checked them out you got messages
Item: Book: St. John’s First Aid Manual
This is the most common and accepted first aid manual in the world.
Skillbook
Do you wish to use this book as a Skillbooks?
Doing so will destroy this copy.
Yes / NoItem: Book: Knot for beginners
This is a beginner’s instruction book for common knots and has a very bad pun in the title.
Skillbook
Do you wish to use this book as a Skillbooks?
Doing so will destroy this copy.
Yes / No
You selected No both times, but after you brought them you brought up the option again and selected Yes for the book on Knots.
The book had all the contents fade from the pages and you felt a pressure in your head as the knowledge went there.
New Skill: Knotting Lvl 1 (10)
You can make simple knots
That had potential
Now for the first aid book.
New Skill: First Aid Lvl 1 (15 MP)
You can heal minor injuries and know how to lessen some more serious medical problems.
You stayed in the library for a fair while and managed to do the homework expected for you by tomorrow. You then revised the subjects a bit more and improved your work.
All this gave you a message
+1 INT
You had managed to grind it!
Damn! You might even be able to lose the Slacker attribute today!
Hang on, better play it safe than sorry.
Looking over things you noticed a problem. Your inventory slots were all full!
Hmm, you could dumb the used books as rubbish, and carry the bag of cans home, freeing up two slots. Nah, carrying the cans would raise questions. Dumping the books will be done.
Focusing you managed to get groups of the same type of things together, such as the uniforms and tools. That alone freed up two slots.
You stayed there until the library closed at 7PM, having lost track of time. The family would have eaten, so you grabbed some food from a shop on the way home. That was another $12.00 gone.
You were going to need to be persuasive when facing your family. They could legally kick you out with only what belongs to you. You put two of your remaining stat points into CHA.
At the front door you paused, took a deep breath, straighten your clothes, and entered.
Time to face the music
