Chapter 3 by Beast79 Beast79

Why does Davy need to be the Getaway Driver?

Someone else, some other place

He wasnt a fan of hospitals. He wasnt a fan of being a patient at hospitals. And yet he found himself in a hospital as a patient. Worse he had been alone in the hospital for more than a day. That was starting to worry him.

Xander Harris didnt expect to be the center of his friends attentions. They were fighting a war just now. But the fact that he hadnt seen or heard from anyone for over a day? That made him worry bad things had happened to them.

But its not like he was going to be able to ride to their rescue. He was trapped here in the hospital. And for once he wasnt going to try and escape. He was down an eyeball thanks to Caleb and the First Evil. He didnt need to injure himself worse blundering around while on serious pain meds.

So he was going to do the mature thing. For once. He was going to wait.

He haaaaated waiting. Wait, wait, wait. Just sitting alone. With my thoughts. Alone.

Ugh.

Maybe he should call Angel and his crew just to have reinforcements ready to go. Nothing had to Buffy, Wills and Dawn... probably. Almost certainly everyone was fine... if they were grading on a curve. They certainly werent dead. Surely not. Everybody was still alive. Well, not Spike, but he was a vampire so that didnt count.

Maybe he should call Riley and get the actual Cavalry prepped and ready to go.

"Xander!" Willow shouted as she rushed into the room.

Xander slimped back in his bed and let himself relax and let his fear go. "Hey, Wills, where ya been?"

"Oh, Gods, Xander I should have told you. I meant to tell you. I forgot to tell you. I just... I just needed to make this! Now!" Willow sat on the side of the bed and held out a small box done up with a hasty wrapping paper job.

Xander carefully opened the paper, then the box and found himself looking down at a pair of glasses. Reaching in the pulled out the glasses and stared at the one blacked out lense. The lense that would cover his missing eyes. Raising his eyebrows in unasked question he looked at Willow.

"I enchanted them. It... it..." Willow gestured to his face and looked at him with sad eyes but trying to sound exciting.

Xander hmmed and looked at the glasses. "Magic, huh?"

"Yes." Willow said chirpily. "It should be like you... well, like... like you... like nothing ever happened."

"Very cool. Thanks Wills. Does it do anything else? X-ray vision perhaps?" He joked, giving her a smile. Trying to get away from the topic of having an eye ripped out by their enemy.

"No. Not in the way your thinking, buster." Willow shook a finger at him comically. She took the glasses from him and held them up for him to see, she made a show out of holding the blacked out lense by the top and bottom of the frame. "Hold the lense like so and you can use a non perverted X-ray vision. You get up close to something and you can see thru about a foot of anything. I'm talking wood, stone, metal, cloth and flesh and bones. It should all look like the clearest of clear glass."

"Cool." Xander grinned.

"Yeah. You dont have to hold the lense, theres also a voice activated mode. Dawn demanded you have options if you have to use it in public, like Superman and his glasses." Willow smiled.

Xander laughed, "I thought that looked familiar." He pantomimed pulling a pair of glasses down his nose. "So... Superman, huh? Telescopic vision? Heat vision?"

Willow nodded once, "There is a zoom function for magnification." She then shook her head, "No heat vision. We all agreed that would be a bad idea. Also really frikkin hard it kept screwing up our 1st couple of attempts at the enchantment." She grumbled.

"We all?" Xander asked, taking the glasses from Willow.

"Me, Dawn and Andrew have been working on this the past couple days. It took all of yesterday to enchant them." Willow explained, "There is also a night vision mode. And thats about it outside of looking stylish. Kennedy insisted they had to look good on you."

"Super cool. " Xander grinned as he put the glasses on his face. "Remind me to thank everyone when we get home."

"So you ready to get out of here today?" Willow asked. "Xander?"

Staring at his friend Xander wasnt sure what he was seeing but he wasnt seeing just Willow. What the heck was he seeing?
