So it begins...

“...So, are you in?” The voice in the ring asks. It rattles off its spiel with the practiced air of a weary actor who has repeated a line of dialogue so many times that the words have lost all meaning to them.

It isn't until the initial shock of what you found begins to fade that you start to consider the actual words it just said, which are just as shocking to you as its existence. Apparently this ring is some sort of magical entity that wants to give you superpowers in exchange for giving it control of your body while you sleep. That... seems somewhat creepy to think about, but if you are being honest with yourself it sounds like an amazing deal. It's not like you are planning on doing anything while you're asleep anyway, and gaining superpowers is well worth the trade.

Superpowers are common enough that most major cities have at least a few teams of Heroes zipping around saving the day, but you've never seriously considered the possibility of having powers yourself. Something like that happening to you has always been firmly in the realm of impossibility. But now, this ring on your finger is offering you whatever powers you want? It seems too good to be true.

You walk in silence for a while, heeding the ring's advice against speaking out loud. The ring seems content to give you some time to process your thoughts, and eventually you make it back to your small apartment. "I mean..." You start out skeptically, sitting down at your kitchen table and staring at the ring. "In principle, yeah, it sounds like a great deal. I just, uh, I want to ask a few more questions before I... you know... officially agree to anything."

"I always try to be as upfront and honest as possible." The voice in the ring assures you. "Ask me anything you want. I'll try my best to alleviate any concerns you might have."
