She's not ready to see him yet

Rather than go inside her parent’s house, Vicky went straight to her apartment. She wasn’t quite ready for Zack to see her yet, so she went up to her place to grab a shower and rinse out her hair one more time. Meanwhile, Olivia stepped in to her living room to say hello.

“Well, hello Zack!” Olivia greeted the boy that had stolen her daughter’s heart.

“Good afternoon Misses Walker,” he responded.

“Now Zack, we’ve told you this once, you can call me ‘Olivia’. There’s no need to be so formal in this house except at dinner,” the older woman reminded him.

“I tired telling him that before, but he gave this bull about ‘First greeting of the day’ or some damned nonsense like that,” Don laughed.

“Where’d Vicky get to?” Zack asked.

“Yeah Olivia. The boy didn’t come over to discuss formalities with you. He wants to see our daughter!” Mister Walker said before receiving a playful slap from his wife.

“Hush you! Zachary, Dear, she went to go clean up. She’ll be back in a little while,” answered Olivia.

As soon as Olivia finished speaking, Victoria ran in and wrapped her arms around her father. Olivia smiled at her husband for whatever he did. Clueless as to the reason for the embrace, Don looked at his wife and shrugged his shoulders.

“Thank you, Daddy! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” Victoria hummed as she held her father tightly.

“Um…” Don stammered, looking to his wife for help. “You’re welcome?”

“The dress is beautiful!” the young woman informed everyone.

“What dress is that, Sweetie?” her mother asked.

“The one that got ruined: Daddy bought me another one!”

“I did?” puzzled Don. “When?”

“When Mom and I were at the salon.” Vicky told her father. “You did buy me the dress, right?”

“Afraid not, Pumpkin,” her father corrected her. “I haven’t left the house at all.”

“Well, Mom was with me, so she couldn’t have bought it, and you didn’t leave the house, then who bought it for me?” Vicky asked. The truth hit her like a ton of bricks. The elated blonde turned to the only other person in the room.

“Hello!” Zack waved.

“ZACK? YOU BOUGHT ME THE DRESS?”

“Guilty as charged!” he replied.

“But why?”

“Because it looks good on you,” he said.

“Thank you, but I can’t accept it, Zack,” Vicky frowned. “Please, take it back!”

“But why?” Zack asked, his heart at the point of breaking.

“Because you didn’t have to spend your money on me Zack.”

“I know I didn’t have to. I wanted to,” Zack told her. “Now please, take the dress.”

“I…I don’t know what to say, Zack,” Vicky stammered as she failed to hide the look of adoration on her face.

“UH DUH! You’re supposed to say ‘Thank you!’ Vicky!” Don laughed before getting slapped in the back of the head by his wife.

“Idiot!” Olivia rolled her eyes at the man she married. “Maybe you two should go talk about this at your place, Vicky.”

As the two teens stepped outside, Olivia glared at her husband.

“What?” he asked cluelessly.

“You know what! You know she likes that boy, right? Comments like that will only embarrass her.,” Olivia said to Don.

“I know she likes him. I just want her to say something to him. Before he does something dumb like run off with that Ravers girl,” Don smiled.

“How do you know she likes Zack?”

“Are you kidding me? Did you see the look on her face before you kicked them out? When a man sees THAT look on his little girl’s face, it means he’s just met his future son-in-law!”

“And how in the Hell do you know that?” Olivia asked her husband.

“Because when I asked your father if I could marry you, he told me that you had THAT look on your face the first time you introduced us!”
