Chapter 43 by Cretan_Bull14
Is the next day better?
It doesn't seem that way to Vicky
As Olivia and Vicky headed back to the car, Vicky hung her head in sorrow and yet still managed to breathe a sigh of relief. The beautician did not need to cut much of the young blonde’s hair. The professional hair dresser did warn her though that some hair may have been damaged and might fall out over the next few weeks, but as her scalp wasn’t affected, it should eventually grow back. To help remove any lingering paint, Vicky was given a bottle of baby oil and told to rub it into her hair and gently comb it out. As the she waited for her mother to get into the car, Victoria broke down in tears.
“Aww, its okay, Baby!” Olivia soothed her daughter. “Almost all of the paint is out, and by the time we get home, your room will be clean. We’ll buy you a new dress if you want.”
“It’s not that, Mom. It’s not the hair. It’s not the mess. It’s not even about the clothes,” Vicky cried as her mother started the car and headed for home.
“What is it then?”
“It’s about him. He saw everything, Mom. He saw how humiliated I was. He saw how ugly my brothers are. He knows they tried to get him with the paint. He won’t want anything to do with me after this,” the teen admitted her new-found feelings for Zack to her mother.
“Oh. It’s about Zack. Trust me, Vicky. You’ll hear from that boy again. I saw how that boy looked at you the other night when you first brought him over. He cares about you. A lot. Feelings that strong don’t go away easily,” Olivia hugged her weeping offspring.
“What makes you so sure?” Vicky asked.
“When the paint landed on you, did he laugh?”
“No.”
“That’s right. He yelled for your father. When the girls made fun of you, did he join in?”
“No.”
“That’s right. He stood up for you, picked you up in his arms, and stayed with you for two days!”
“But what about last night, Mom? Zack didn’t stay last night!”
“That’s because your father didn’t want him to be there when we disciplined your brothers. He also didn’t want Zack to feel like a fifth wheel with nothing to do. I mean, I was cleaning your hair and he couldn’t do anything to help. Your father was watching the twins clean up, and so he would have been in the way there, too! If Zack is as good a person as I think he is, you’ll be hearing from him today!” Olivia said.
“I wish I could believe you, Mom,” Vicky stated as she buried her face in her hands.
“Well, if you won’t believe me, then would you at least believe your own eyes?” Olivia asked.
"Probably. Why?"
"Look out your window. Isn't that Zack's car sitting in our driveway?"
What is Vicky's reaction?
