Route (Part 1)

May and Em finally headed down Route 104 towards Rustboro. They had just beat a couple trainers on the beach when Blaze began to glow. His whole body became obscured by bright white light and his silhouette began to grow and grow, from the palm sized bird he used to be and into something more, something different.

Blaze is evolving!

Blaze emerged from his evolutionary light show nearly Em’s height, his crest feathers reaching Em’s shoulders. He now had powerful muscled thighs that led to clawed feet, as well as arms tipped with claws. Em and Blaze celebrated the evolution with shared cries of excitement before continuing northwards past a fisherman’s house.

As the pair of Trainers turned a corner in the Route to head into Petalburg Woods, they were stopped by an attractive lady.

“We must have been fated to meet. May I ask you for a battle?”

Em felt the familiar fire of battle swell within him.

Lady Cindy sent out Zigzagoon!

“Go! Blaze! Use Peck!”

Blaze sprung into action, his beak glowing bright white and growing as he charged whatever energy it was that fueled pokemon attacks. He rant towards Cindy’s Zigzagoon and thrust his beak directly into its exposed side, flicking his head sideways a bit as he ran, throwing the Zigzagoon into the air.

Blaze used Peck!

“Hang in there, Zigzagoon! Use Tackle!”

The Zigzagoon was in bad shape, barely on its feet, but with a determined growl it stumbled towards Blaze and bashed its tiny body into him.

Foe Zigzagoon used Tackle!
“Blaze! Use Double Kick!”

Blaze watched as the Zigzagoon stumbled back towards its trainer and got into a ready stance, then he stepped forwards and crouched into a fighting stance. Lady Cindy sprayed the Zigzagoon with some green medicine and it looked like it made a full recovery. Blaze’s legs started to glow with pokemon power as he slowly lifted one, and then kicked the Zigzagoon twice with incredible speed. The Zigzagoon was sent flying into its trainer’s arms, eyes dazed and unfocused.

Blaze gained 90 EXP. Points!

Em defeated Lady Cindy!

“Oh, my!” Cindy exclaimed.

“Great job, Em!” May cheered from the sidelines. She turned to Cindy with hands on her hips and a smug expression on her face. “Pay up, lady!”

“My, my, and here I thought I had been defeated by this strapping young man, not his stunning partner in crime.”

May blushed heavily and poked her index fingers together, grinding the tip of her boot into the dirt. She stuttered a few sentence fragments as the Lady introduced herself to Em, handing him her Consent Card from the wicker basket she carried.

“My name is Cindy. Surely there’s a more civil way to resolve our battle, hmm?”

Em grinned lecherously as he showed Cindy his card in return, sealing the deal.

“Let’s have some fun, Em~” Cindy said as she walked over to the white picket fence that marked the border of the Petalburg Woods. She hiked up the back of her ankle length pastel green dress, revealing that she wore no panties as she leaned seductively over the fence. Em wasted no time pulling his shorts down low enough to free his rapidly rising erection, but as he pushed against her glistening lips Cindy spoke up.

“Eat this first, please.” She produced a contra berry from her wicker basket and handed one half to Em. He ate it happily and waited for Cindy to do the same.

“Please, enter~” She moaned, and Em immediately did as he was told. Inch by inch, he stuffed her skitty with his dick. Em and May waved goodbye to Lady Cindy as she sat in the short grass and finished herself off. They entered Petalburg Woods and wandered around the tall grass under the shade of the trees. May beat the shit out of a bunch of guys with bug pokemon teams and took their money. She didn’t seem nearly as enthusiastic about using her Consent Card as Em was. Em, for his part, preferred fighting wild pokemon anyway.

I should catch a grass type for my team, to complement Blaze’s fire type. I should get a water type too. And maybe just a normal type to have casual battles with. It’s not very fun to fight an opponent who you have no chance against or who has no chance to beat you. With me building a competitive team with type advantages, I really shouldn’t battle all the random people I see around unless I have a friendly match pokemon.

Em coaxed a Poochyena into a pokeball by bribing it with berries, named it Yena, and designated it his casual battle pokemon. After catching up with May after her battles, the two of them sat by a tree and let their pokemon out to relax and eat berries. Blaze warmed up to Yena pretty quickly, nudging her playfully with his beak. May had decided against catching any new pokemon yet, so her mudkip lay alone in her lap. After having a fulfilling brunch of magost and watmel berries, the pair of trainers set off again towards Rustboro.

They came across a man in a bright green formal suit, who seemed to be looking around and muttering to himself.

“Hmmm… Not a one to be found… Hello, have you seen any pokemon called shroomish out here? I really love that pokemon.”

Before May could respond, a young man in a weird outfit walked up to them and started talking.

“I was going to ambush you, but you had to dawdle in Petalburg Woods forever, didn’t you? I got sick of waiting, so here I am! You! Devon Researcher! Hand over those papers!”

The man in the green suit scrambled to hide behind May and Em with an Aiyeeeh! of fright.

“You’re pokemon trainers, aren’t you? You’ve got to help me, please!”

Em sent out Blaze without a second thought, the fire of fierce battle starting to stir within him.

“Hunh? What do you think you’re doing? What, you’re going to protect him? No one who crosses Team Aqua gets any mercy, not even a kid! Come on and battle me!”

Team Aqua? Seriously?

Go! Blaze! Use Double Kick!

Blaze, hearing the urgency in Em’s voice, ran towards the enemy Poochyena as his legs started to glow with pokemon power. He jumped up and spun, twirling his legs incredibly quickly and hitting the Poochyena exactly twice. The Poochyena whimpered and whined before falling over, immediately defeated. Blaze crowed menacingly at the Team Magma grunt.

Blaze gained 105 EXP. Points!

Em defeated Team Aqua Grunt!

“What the Splash? You’re tough!”

The grunt pulled out 180 poke’s out of his wallet and put it on the ground as he picked up his poochyena.

“You’ve got some nerve meddling with Team Aqua! Come one and battle me again! I wish I could say that, but I’m out of pokemon… And, hey, we of Team Aqua are also after something in Rustboro. I’ll let you go today!”

With that, he ran off towards Rustboro. The Devon Researcher spoke up.

“Whew… That was awfully close! Thanks to you, he didn’t rob me of these important papers. I know, I”ll give you a great ball as my thanks!”

Em put the great ball in the pokeball pocket of his bag.

“Didn’t that Team Aqua thug say they were after something in Rustboro, too? Uh-oh! It’s a crisis! I can’t be wasting time!”

He also ran off towards Rustboro. Em looked to May with confusion clear on his face.

“Isn’t Team Aqua one of the two gangs that disbanded after some ten year olds beat all of their members without mercy in pokemon battles? Like, five years ago?” He asked her. The same thing had happened to Team Rocket back in Johto, but he wasn’t sure about the specifics here in Hoenn.

“Yeah, Brendan and Haruka. They were hailed as heroes for their service to the region and went on to pass the title of pokemon champion back and forth. I wonder what that guy thinks he’s doing spouting nonsense about Team Aqua after so long… Anyways, weren’t you looking for a good grass type? Shroomish, the pokemon the Devon guy mentioned, would be a good fit if you can find one!” May was uncharacteristically serious as she gave Em a quick history lesson, but was back to her bubbly self as she started to give him advice on finding shroomish.

They found one, and not wanting to accidentally knock it out with Blaze’s extra strong attacks(he was level 17 now), they coaxed it into a pokeball by being friendly and offering it berries. Em named him Loom. May’s Mudkip evolved into Marshstomp after wiping another bug type team, and the pair of Trainers made their way out of the Petalburg Woods.
