Roses are Red, Violet is Too

I meet Violet in the living room, and after a brief confirmation, we're both finally ready to go.

"Mom! Violet and I are leaving now!" I call out as we head for the door.

"Wait, wait, wait! Hole on a second, sweetie!" My mother calls back in desperation.

Violet gives me a funny look, but I've heard my mom speak in that tone enough the past few days to know what's happening. As expected, at least to me, Mom flies out of the kitchen and practically tackles me in a hug.

"Oh, I'll miss you so much while you're gone, sweetie! Please don't leave Mommy home by herself too long!"

Hearing my mom refer to herself as "Mommy" is a new one, but nothing she does really surprises me at this point. Violet clearly is surprised though, as she looks us up and down before raising an eyebrow in my direction. Violet's scan actually draws my attention to the fact that Mom's excitement attribute must have been triggered, as she's wiggling her butt as we hug. Eventually, I'm able to get Mom to calm down enough for us to make it out of the door. Despite her suspicious look, Violet doesn't bring up what happened as we start walking to the bus stop.

Once we sit down on the bus together, Violet and I start chatting like we always do. If you were to look at us now, you would have no idea that Violet is a massive pervert who, not ten minutes ago, flashed me and sniffed my sister's panties. She's still a lot more flirty then she used to be, but no one around us would know that's unusual for her. I guess Violet has gotten a lot better at holding herself together in public. That's a relief.

"Hey, we're going to get lunch before the movie, right? I'm starving," Violet asks.

"Awesome! Can we try a new place I found the other day? I walk by it on my way to class sometimes and it smells SO good."

"You know I'm always down to try something new." What can I say? I guess taking risks is something I enjoy doing more often than I realize.

Violet seems to be very excited about this new restaurant, as she grabs me by the hand and quickly leads me down the sidewalk as soon as we step off of the bus. It doesn't take long before we're standing in front of a quaint little place called The Lunar Pan. I have to admit, Violet was not lying when she said this place smelled good. Once we were within a block of the restaurant, I caught the aroma coming from the building an instantly knew this would be a good choice for lunch.

"Let's sit outside. It's such a nice day and the openness will give us more space away from others."

I can't argue with that logic, even though I'm not really sure what Violet wants to do that she needs space for. Given her attitude so far today, I can only imagine. We walk onto the patio of the restaurant and manage to get a table off in the corner. When I sit down, I realize just how nice of a day it really is. The sun is shining, and it's nice and warm. The perfect weather for sitting outside and eating lunch with a friend. After sitting and talking for a minute, a young woman approaches our table with a big smile.

"Hi! My name is Rose and I'll be taking care of you guys today. Can I get either of you anything to drink?" The woman says in a chipper voice.

Wow, this girl is cute. Maybe it's just that classic friendliness that comes with being a waitress (at least a good waitress), but I can't help but love her already. The obvious star of the show is her red hair, which I have no doubt is an eye-catcher for anyone she meets. She's also adorably small, maybe around 5 feet tall if I had to guess. Despite her size, she still has some decent curves on her. Combine all that with her soft, pale skin and sparkling blue eyes and you have a girl that I bet a lot of guys would kill to have shot with.

I look over at Violet to find her equally as enamored by our waitress. It doesn't take me long to realize that I should probably say something or this situation may get very uncomfortable with the two of us staring at this woman.

"Just a glass of water is fine for me." My voice seems to snap Violet out of her trance.

"Oh, um, can I have some sweet tea with lemon, please?"

"Coming right up! I'll be back in a bit!" Rose states before walking off toward the building.

It doesn't even take five second of Rose leaving for Violet to lean over and whisper to me. As she does, I notice her face is bright red and she has a mischievous look on her face.

"I like that red hair. It makes her look extra feisty."

I just roll my eyes and do my best to accept that this is what hanging out with Violet will be like from now on. Just as I'm about to change the conversation, it seems like Violet beats me to it.

"Actually, we can talk about how hot our waitress is later. You still have a lot of explaining to do. What exactly is going on?"

"Uh... what are you talking about?" As much as it seems like I'm trying to save face, I'm actually not sure what Violet is referring to. A lot of stuff has been going on in my life lately.

"I'm being serious, Matt. I've waited this long, but now I want to know. That distraction you asked for during Powell's last class, the weird thing you were using that you freaked out about me seeing, even that time you told me 'it's a long story' after I saw you talking to those construction workers. And don't think I didn't notice your mom pouncing on you while shaking her ass earlier today. You said yourself we had plenty of time before the movie, so I think it's time for that long story."

I knew that Violet was smart, but damn. I'm impressed. I'm also totally at a lose for what to do here. I feel myself starting to panic a little as I think. I've been trying my best to keep all this Random Remote stuff a secret, but I'm not sure how to do that when Violet has seemingly backed me into a corner. I mean, what am I supposed to do? Get up and leave? Tell her not to worry about it? That will only make things worse. So... should I just tell her? But I've already used the remote on her. Even if it was an accident, that could ruin our friendship, and I don't want that. And can I even trust her with that information?

"Please, Matt. Whatever it is, just tell me. I promise you can trust me," Violet says, as if she could read my mind.

She's... she's right. I can trust Violet with this. I know this could ruin our friendship, but I think not telling her may do even more damage. And if I'm being honest with myself, I would really like to get all of this off my chest. The more I think about it, the more I realize that I want to tell Violet. So I do. I tell her everything. I tell her about the weird shop, the remote, everyone I've used it on including her, I even tell her about Dr. Powell's report and my meeting with the dean. I do my best to sound absolutely sincere as I explain everything. I even pull the remote out of my pocket and show it to her. When I'm done, Violet is understandable taken aback. It takes her a few seconds to process all this information, but eventually, she does respond.

"So that's what I saw you playing with in class. Wow... that's a lot. And it's a bit hard to believe, if I'm being real."

"I know, but I promise it's all true. Please, you have to-"

"Can I see my profile?" Violet interrupts. I have pause a moment before answering, having been caught off guard by that request.

"Are you sure?"

Violet nods. I point the remote at her and lock-on. Immediately she leans over and looks at the screen. However, what pops up isn't her profile.

"Huh?" I say, doubting if I really just heard that.

Violet tilts her head up and looks my dead in the eyes.

"Press the button. I want to see what it does."

"Violet, you can't be serious. I have no idea what it will do to you."

"I know," she says curtly. "I'm giving you permission to do it anyway. I have to see what happens. Please?"

I try to look for any hesitation in Violet's eyes, but I can't see any. She's 100% committed to this idea. With no way to convince her to chance her mind, I press the red button and hope she doesn't regret this decision.

The way she looks reminds me of when my mom would get really intense migraines when I was younger. I try to comfort her, but when I put my hand on her, she jumps slightly and pulls away from me.

"Violet?! Are you okay?!"

Just as quickly as it started, the pain seems to instantly disappear, leaving Violet to silently stare at the ground. She looks deep in thought about something.

"That's right... I don't normally act like this," she says, as though she's had a sudden epiphany. She looks up at me. "Sorry about that, Matt. I just had this... sudden rush of thoughts. Up until just now, I thought being this horny all the time was normal. God, I can't believe I went through your sister's dirty panties this morning..."

Wait, so Violet is aware of what is happening to her now? How is that possible? I guess it must have something to do with seeing her profile on the remote. Being able to read out what's happening to her must have pushed those ideas out of her subconscious. It's kind of like how I'm aware of that one attribute Dr. Powell has even though it still affects me. As interesting as that is, I'm still worried about my friend. I scoot closer to her and place an arm gently on her shoulder.

"You do?"

"Yeah. Even though I know what that remote is doing to me, I still can't help but be turned on by the whole thing. If anything, being aware of what's going on kind of makes the whole thing even hotter," she explains as a blush returns to her face.

I'm still not sure how I feel about this situation. On one hand, Violet is taking this whole thing incredibly well. On the other hand, it's hard knowing that the remote is still missing with her head, even if she was the one to ask me to use it on her this time. While I continue to process how exactly I feel, it seems that Violet has already decided to take this new life in stride. What really shocks me, though, is what she says next.

"I know this is going to sound bad, but now that I know what this remote can do, I kind of want to see you use it on someone else. You know, feel the rush of giving someone a new identity for myself..."

"What?! You can't be serious! Who would we even use it on?"

Violet gives me another mischievous grin as she leans in close.

"How about that sexy waitress? I know you thought she was a little hottie too."
