Q&A Conclusion
John loosened his grip allowing the faerie to lean forwards and spin the hand before slumping back against John when it landed on left hand yellow. She seemed annoyed but her mood lightened when she cozied up against him.
“For someone who’s been acting indifferent about being intimate with John, you sure are blushing a lot while rubbing up against him,” Violet remarked, smirking as she leaned in to flick the hand, allowing it to spin before stopping on left foot green. Her eyes flicked up to John. “Hmm, I have a dare but it’s not one you can do now. Would it be okay for me to give you a time frame for when you are to complete the dare and a forfeit if you fail?”
John sighed and nodded. The ghost smiled. “Good, okay, so your task is to give that beginner RPG class item to Alison. She knows about the Abyss already and that puts her in danger. Usually, the Order would replace a mundanes’ memory in these situations, but if that was the case, you would have been briefed about what her memory was replaced with. I’m not entirely sure why they didn’t replace or wipe her memory but I think it’s a safe bet to say it’s unlikely they did. Alison doesn’t really seem like the type to fight, but from the sound of the item name, it could give her at least something to allow her to protect herself.”
John nodded. “That’ll be easy, I was thinking about doing that anyway,” he muttered.
“Okay, so if you can’t complete that task, you have to come back to me on your hands and knees and ask me to marry you one day.” She giggled.
John was about to reply but sighed and rolled his eyes. ’It’s not really worth arguing about. We don’t have art tomorrow, but there will be more than enough opportunity to give her the item, and if she’s staying home again, I can always take a trip during lunch,’ he thought, and chuckled to himself.
Ignoring her big grin, he spun the hand, landing on right foot red. He took a second to think of a question for everyone. John pulled his hand from around Dahlia and rubbed the back of his neck. “Uh, what… music does everyone like?” His unsure tone was clear as he asked.
Violet raised an eyebrow and gave a face that clearly said, ‘is that it?’
John cleared his throat. “I, well, I like all kinds of music, from heavy metal, to dubstep, recently I’ve mostly listened to video game soundtracks, bardcore and some folk music.”
“Well, I usually just listen to what you or Brenda listen to. When you’re not around, though, I do like listening to the Fallout soundtracks, they’ve got a certain charm about them,” Violet said, smiling.
Dahlia looked up at John with a slightly quizzical expression. “Uhm, Dewdrop has quite a nice singing voice, and one of the girls plays the harp which sounded really nice, do those count?”
John smiled and nodded. “Guess I’ll have to ask Dewdrop to sing when I see her,” he replied.
She nodded with a proud smile before reaching to spin once more. Like John she landed on right hand red and began thinking of a question, often looking between John and Violet in a cute way. “What… What is your favourite… Place? Wait, memory? No, no, uh, food? Yeah, what’s your favourite food?” she asked. “I really liked the things John gave me for breakfast, but I also really like fruit, it’s sweet and juicy and full of flavour.”
Violet frowned a little, giving a shrug. “I… don’t know. It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten, I don’t really need it. Sorry, wish I could give you a better answer.”
As Violet was talking John was thinking of his answer. “My mom makes amazing fried chicken, so I think I’d have to go with that… wait, does that mean you can’t eat? Or just that you don’t need to so you haven’t?”
Violet’s face scrunched. “Well, I haven’t tried, so I don’t know,” she answered.
“Maybe we should get something for you to try sometime,” he replied. “It needs to be something really good though since it’d be the first thing you’d had in so long”
Violet nodded while spinning the hand. “Did each of us just spin the same colour?” she asked, looking down at the hand which had landed back in the exact same spot. The other two nodded and waited for Violet’s question. “Okay, well, I guess this one has to be a good one… Who in this room do you find hot, attractive and or fuckable?”
John choked upon hearing the question. Violet smiled impishly. “My answer is simple, both of you. Even if I didn’t find your nerdy appearance charming and cute, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know you which has increased my attraction towards you, John. And as for Dahlia, how could I not find such an adorable girl attractive? We don’t know each other a lot but I look forward to getting to know you more.”
“Wait, isn’t that kinda weird? You watched him grow up as a kid and now you want to do… that stuff with him?” Dahlia asked, her eyes snapping back to Violet.
Violet laughed a little awkwardly. “That’s kinda a tough thing to ask and I should make you ask it when it’s your turn, but I’ll try and answer, and I’m not justifying anything, to be clear. First, I want to just mention, no matter how long I’m dead, I still feel like a barely adult person, my non-existent body still goes through the same emotional and ‘physical’,” she air quoted, “roller coaster ride any nineteen year old goes through, it basically means I’m stuck in both body and mind of a young adult.
“Onto John. Finding him sexually attractive is a more recent development, it’s not like I saw him as a child and wanted to jump his bones. My feelings have just grown as we’ve been together for so long,” Violet had a gentle, contemplative smile as she looked at John, before she shook her head. “Okay, John, your turn.”
John felt awkward, only furthered by Violet intently staring and Dahlia’s eyes peering up at him from his lap.
“Don’t forget, no lying,” Violet teased.
John coughed and cleared his throat. “I, uhm, well… you’re both very attractive… and I, uhm, y-yeah,” he stammered, his voice cracking slightly.
“It’s nice to hear you think I look fuckable.” Violet giggled, winking at him. “How about you, Dahlia? What are your true thoughts and feelings? Were you all talk when it came to your declaration of dropping your panties for John, were you hoping he’d take you right then and there, or were you really indifferent about whether or not he was interested?”
Dahlia crossed her arms over John’s, her hands lightly gripping his forearms while she looked pointedly down at the bed. “He… makes me feel safe, a-and looks nice… for a human… and I’m not really into women… Well, Leilani and I occasionally spent time together… but generally, I’m not interested in women.”
Dahlia squirmed and John decided to be the good guy and help her by leaning forwards and spinning the hand once again, landing on right foot blue. He looked at Violet. “Why did you never leave the house? You said you were tied to the house, but in reality, you’re tied to this pendant,” he said, pulling the chain out and running his thumb over it. “If you were able to move it, then surely you could have just taken it and left the house, right?”
“It isn’t quite as easy as that. I didn’t mean to do it the first time and I only moved it slightly, it only fell because of where it was situated. After that, when we moved, I spent weeks trying to move it, only managing to budge it slightly.
“Bringing the thing down here to you basically knocked me out. It wasn't as bad as before but it was like carrying a ton of weight. Luckily I have quite a good range that I can move away from the shield. I can actually go into the backyard even when the shield is in the attic. I haven’t tested how far I can get since bringing it down, though. At a guess between ten to twenty-metre radius around the shield,” Violet divulged.
John nodded as she spoke, and was surprised by how far she could stray from the pendant. Dahlia had already spun the hand and slumped back into John’s lap disappointed at her result, being **** to skip her turn again.
Violet didn’t waste time reaching over and spinning. Landing on left foot yellow, she thought for a second. “Oh, I have one, it’s on John’s behalf. Okay, so he’s an Oberon now, right? What does that mean? What does he have to do? And why did the other great faerie know he was an Oberon just from seeing him?”
Dahlia nodded. “I guess those are good questions, I assume Leilani didn’t explain anything. So Oberon is the king of a flutter. Depending on the Titania, he’s given different amounts of responsibility. Typically it would be split in half or the king and queen would work together on keeping order. If I was Titania and John had become my Oberon, I would have likely given him the majority of responsibility helping him where needed… Leilani on the other hand will likely not give John any responsibilities unless he asks for them. If she ever did ask for anything, it would probably be for him to accompany her to diplomatic meetings, which are few and far between. As for why other fae know John’s position, we just know. It’s not like he has any physical indicator, his aura doesn’t give off anything, we can’t smell it and there isn’t a feeling or pull or anything; just seeing him we can tell.”
“What does that mean though? If you have to see him, doesn’t that mean there’s something in his look that tells you?” Violet coaxed.
“I can’t explain it. I’m sure I could look at a painting of him and know he’s my Oberon too, even if that painting was done by a non-magical human who couldn’t possibly know that he’s an Oberon. It’s like your heartbeat, you don’t think about it, your body just does it,” Dahlia tried to explain. “Sorry that I can’t tell you exactly how it works. Maybe Dewdrop would know better? But I’m not sure.”
John let out an affirmative hum, while Violet seemed a touch disappointed with the answer. Leaning forward John spun only for it to land in the exact same space. Looking down he thought, ’I should probably just ask, it’s gonna bother me if I don’t.’
The faerie looked up at him expectantly. “Dahlia, did Lani ever seem like she was forcing you out? Did she ever try to persuade you to leave or to give up your position as Titania? Or did she ever… threaten you?”
Dahlia looked shocked, like she’d just been hit, and she shook slightly. “N-no, of course not. I can’t believe you’d even assume or think she might be capable of that. You are her Oberon, how could you question her like that? Of course she never threatened me, or **** me to do anything. She’s my sister, maybe not by blood but it’s a bond we formed from being by each other's side. She was **** to make a decision that broke her heart by not sending the entire flutter into the mountain to save me.”
“S-sorry… What Elina said just got stuck in my head… I don’t really know Lani, so how could I know what she’s capable of? Being married to her wasn’t done purposefully, she kinda tricked me into sleeping with her and my powers took care of the rest without either of us having a say,” John defended.
[Let’s not go too far. Your marriage was as much against your will as the things you’ve done with your cheerleader.]
John half scoffed and rolled his eyes, though he wasn’t able to really form thoughts of a way to argue against her.
He took a deep breath and tightened his arms around the large faerie. “Sorry, Dahlia, I didn’t mean to upset you.”
Her hands stroked his arms. “It’s all right,” she muttered. After a short silence, she turned and looked up at John. “Do you plan on taking an active role in the flutter, at all?” she asked.
“I… I’m not sure. I only just got convinced to do something with the kobolds. I’m sure it would be good to have some kind of interaction between the camp and the grove. I don’t think I want to allow the kobolds access to the grove, given what happened with you. But I think without their leader they’re not really acting in the same way. He seemed like the type to **** his people into doing his bidding rather than leading them,” John thought out loud as he answered.
Violet let out a groan, which drew John’s attention. Looking up he could see she’d spun the hand while he was distracted and had managed to get left hand blue.
“Couldn’t wait a few more seconds?” John asked flatly.
The ghost shrugged. “I didn’t see any harm in spinning, I wouldn’t have interrupted any follow-up question or anything. Think this should be the last round? It’s late and I think most questions have been asked, right?”
The gamer nodded. “Yeah I think that’s probably a good idea, I’m already going to be falling asleep in class, might as well try and get as much rest as possible.” He leaned forward and spun the hand which landed on Dahlia once again. “I know you said Lani didn’t **** you out of being Titania, but did you ever want to be the queen? And if not why?”
Dahlia sighed deeply. “I’m just not cut out for it. I’m better off taking orders and helping, over giving orders and delegating. I said that my Oberon would have been the one mostly in charge and that would be because I just don’t feel comfortable in a leadership role. Even for our excursion into the mountain, I really wasn’t comfortable but Leilani asked me to lead the team. When we were ambushed, I took the only action I thought was right. Leilani didn’t plan to become queen, she did it because I begged her…”
Rather than waiting for any follow-up questions or gauging the reactions of the other two, she spun, landing on John one last time. “I’m going to be here for a long while, so it would be a good idea to find out more about this place. What’s the village like? What are your favourite parts of it? What’s your king or queen like?”
John chuckled. “Well, the town isn’t huge, but it’s big enough. There are quite a few nice places around Springfield. The park is really nice; the nature trail that the Cullis Gate is on, that’s really peaceful. There’s a pedestrian-only street which has a bunch of shops and things on it, including a game store and an arcade. That's a great place, and it usually doesn’t have the popular people hanging around it because they’re more interested in the mall. As for the person in charge of the town, that would be Mayor Hawthorne, he’s the dad of a girl who… let's say she’s not nice. He’s apparently an okay guy but I’ve heard that he’s basically a pushover for his wife. I think that’s all there is? Oh, I guess the old museum Alison and I went to, that’s pretty cool too.”
Violet gave John a look. “My turn. Last one before John takes me to bed.”
She let out a quiet giggle before flicking the hand which spun, slowing down and almost stopping on right hand blue, but it had just enough momentum to push it over the border onto right foot green.
“Oooh, time for a last dare… Hmm. Oh, I know. You have to take a selfie with Dahlia and I. Do you still have that octopus arm tripod thing? That way we can get a good picture. Also, I get to send the image to Ellie with a caption of my choice,” Violet said, almost bouncing.
John groaned, but since it was to Ellie, he couldn’t see the harm. “Sure, the gorilla pod thing is in the bottom drawer of my nightstand, let me just-”
“No, don’t worry, I’ll get it,” she said, getting up and grabbing the thing. She took John’s phone from him and instructed the other two where to sit. Dahlia was still sitting in his lap, and his arms remained around her. After Violet came over and adjusted something with the faerie, she quickly set the delay on the camera and rushed behind him. He heard the shutter noise the phone made, but his head was pulled back and Violet kissed him on the lips as he heard yet another shutter noise, and another after that when she deepened the kiss.
She pulled back and giggled again before rushing over to the phone. Dahlia wriggled around in his lap as Violet smiled widely, typing out a message and doing a cute little dance once she’d finished.
“Don’t look at the message until the morning. Don’t worry, I didn’t say anything that will cause her to dump you or anything. I’m not actually sure what I could message her to dump you in all honesty. Anyway, time for bed, I need a big spoon,” Violet stated, putting the twisted box on the floor and plucking the faerie from John’s lap. “Sorry, cutie, maybe you can snuggle with him tomorrow.”
Dahlia shrugged before using her wings to reach the bed John had made her. Looking back at Violet, she was now only wearing a pair of white lace underwear, the bra being a kind of half corset type thing. She pushed John into the bed and climbed in after him, wiggling her butt against his crotch and pulling his arm tightly around her.
“Night, Dahlia,” she called quietly, her head turned towards John halfway. “Night, John.”
The two both bid Violet goodnight and the room was quiet, quiet enough for John to hear Violet's very faint, “Love you,” as she closed her eyes.
