Chapter 95 by TheScyle TheScyle

Does he?

Why would he?

"A proud warrior as I aspire to become does not need to dwell in the shadows. I will walk your streets with pride and honour, explaining to those who question me my motives and my peacefull motives. If they insist on killing me, I will accept all **** in the name of my people, for they will learn what is greatness when they see me stand tall against their most fearsome ideas."

John just slowly shook his head. First of all, he was absolutely certain that this peace loving wanna be warrior would not stand a chance against half of what humankind came up with for fun, let alone their **** methods. Second, if he really did walk through the city, all that would happen would be everyone and their mothers pointing and laughing at him. He was looking as gay as the christopher street day given his outfit. And the commotion would only put attention to him, which was exactly what he tried to hide from by coming here. No. Simply walking to his home was not an option. But he had to get there, since the time he was meant to meet Henrietta was less than two hours from now.

"I understand your feelings, Ashthyn, yet you must think further ahead. If you are hunting a magical beast, do you stand before its nest and challenge it to a duel, or do you lay a trap, maybe burn down the nest with the monster inside?" John tried to make an analogy the Hunter in spe would hopefully get.

"I call it out, and if needed I learn its mating call to get it to come at me." Johns mouth fell open. Was this guy being serious? Well at least that explained how so many of them failed the Hunting trial, if this was the usual way of solving it, but even worse... If they hunt my doing their mating call... and they suck at fighting... John was getting some pictures of unwilling elves with monsters in his head, and he was not happy with them.

"Okay... But how about I teach you the human way of hunting. We learn stealth. It doesn't mean we have less pride or do not honour our warriors. We know they are there. We honour those who we see less of even more. So if you want to walk proudly, you will be laughed and pointed at, because they will think lowly of you." This shocked the young elf, but John silently congratulated himself on this move. Either Ashthyn would agree to hide, or he at least would have an explanation why everyone was mocking him.

After ten more long minutes of John desperately trying to convince him, they both met another problem. How?

His house was a straight route through the central city away from the park, but even if it weren't or they would take a detour, it would be almost impossible for Ashthyn to hide himself in that outfit.

"Say, Ashthyn, you are capable of magic, so can you expand the barrier that connects our worlds along with you? So you stay inside it while we walk and you just follow me? That would make most people not notice you, because they rarely look inside barriers. It is considered rude to spy inside someone elses space for humans." But the elf quickly broke his plan by shaking his head.

"I am sorry, but for us elfes and anyone in our realm it is almost impossible to create or change these connected world areas. If one of them is being created, it takes the entire space of our realm into the different world. If we could create those ourself, it would be no challenge or task to get informations of this realm of yours." John slowly nodded. That made sense. Or at least it explained why the earth was not stormed by human eating monsters every day.

"But yours was different. It didn't pull me over like the stories told us it would. It was more like a question. 'A connection of realms has been established. Do you wish to cross the world barrier?' And of course I came to see and meet people of this realm like you." This surprised John. Did he make a mistake on his barrier? Did he not make it good enough? He had to ask Henrietta, once they met.

"Alright then how about this..." John said more to himself than Ashthyn.

Take over - Ashthyn

With this, the bonus of mana he gained would be even bigger. Big enough that he considered it a possibility to change his barrier himself whenever they reached the end of it. Sure, they had to wait a few minutes whenever he ran out of mana, but he would most likely reach his home before the time he had to be there for the meeting. And fully hidden on the road as well.

How does his plan work out?
