What's your quirk?
Quirkless
You were born without a Quirk.
It wasn’t something that was entirely unexpected. Rare, yet unexpected. But it was a reality that gripped your thoughts tight within its firm fingers the moment it left the doctor’s mouth in your youth. The toe bone. That damned toe bone.
What many children would experience as some kind of miracle, a light coming on in an otherwise dark room that would shine for the rest of their lives, was something outside of your grasp. The light never came on. For you, there wasn’t even a switch to be flipped. Just an empty room, dark as the day it came to be.
You are, for all intents and purposes, given the largest handicap you could possibly experience. Mundanity. Part of the 20% that have a bland lack of individual strength so ubiquitous and universal in your world, it’s referred to simply as ‘individuality’ in your native tongue. A Quirk. How quaint. Apparently you lacked the ‘spice’ that others had. Not just powerless, but bland.
But never helpless.
There was something about lacking power that made that a priority. Maybe it was the massive chip on your shoulder you grew from the taunting of the ‘unique’. That itch at the back of your mind that you only managed to scratch when you did something they couldn’t.
Maybe it was your background, growing up outside of what people would consider a ‘normal’ family. Those nights spent doing deliveries for your neighbors, each foot a step towards refining the one thing you could rely on.
Your mind.
People think that they need the light switch or the bulb to shine that light of inspiration in their lives. You, however, have decided to start rubbing sticks together. And it seems people are starting to take notice.
