Ben Joins
Violet stayed leaning against the counter even after Ben walked into the kitchen. He kissed Vivien on the temple the way he always did now, quick and careful, like he was checking a box. Violet watched her mother’s shoulders tighten for half a second before they relaxed again. The sight made something mean and hungry twist low in her stomach.
Ben poured himself coffee and started talking about a new patient. Violet barely heard the words. She kept her eyes on Vivien instead. On the soft place where the robe had slipped again. On the way her mother listened with that distant polite expression she wore whenever Ben spoke for too long.
Violet shifted her weight. The seam of her shorts dragged across her clit. She pressed into it just enough to feel the spark and then stopped. Her pulse was still high from the moment before Ben appeared. She could still feel the exact distance between her body and her mother’s. Close enough to reach out. Close enough to ruin everything.
Ben finally left the room with his mug and his phone. The second the hallway swallowed his footsteps Vivien’s posture changed. She set her coffee down and looked at Violet properly.
“You’re quiet this morning.”
Violet shrugged one shoulder. The movement made her shirt slide against her bare nipples. She did not bother fixing it. “Just thinking.”
“About what?”
The question hung between them. Violet could have said anything safe. School. The house. The weather. Instead she let her gaze drop to Vivien’s mouth for a second too long.
“About last night,” she said. Soft. Honest enough to be dangerous.
Vivien’s eyes darkened. She did not ask what about last night. She did not step back either. The kitchen felt smaller. Warmer. Violet’s cunt ached with every slow beat of her heart. She wanted to close the space. She wanted her mother’s hands on her. She wanted to know if Vivien had been thinking about her too.
Footsteps again. Ben’s this time, returning for something he forgot. Vivien turned away first, smooth as ever, and reached for the toast that had gone cold.
Violet stayed where she was. She watched her mother’s hands. She thought about those same hands between her legs. She thought about how easy it would be to follow Vivien upstairs later when the house went quiet again.
She took a slow breath and smiled to herself, small and private, the same way she had in the dark the night before.
The Murder House knew how to keep secrets.
So did she.
