So how does the aerial battle in the Himalayas end?

The only way it could

Chapter 134 by frogogre1

The green lanterns fought well. They performed complex aerial maneuvers, striking the red cloud angels from the sides, above, and below. They were able to dodge the red lightning bolt again and again, hitting back successfully every time the red cloud angels missed. End the end for all their superior skill and training; they couldn't win, they never could.

In the end the green lanterns of China couldn't hurt the red cloud angels. As energy projections were not an anti-magic power. So they couldn't do any real damage; well, the red cloud angels could hurt the Chinese lanterns very well. It started slowly; at first a few Chinese lanterns got hurt by a lucky shot. They continued fighting on, ignoring the damage, but it never ended.

So a few more got hurt but still continued fighting, then a few got blasted out of the sky. They had to be carried to safety by their healthier teammates who quickly returned to the fight. It never got easier for Chinese lanterns, and more fell as the battle went on, and eventually there were none who were being taken to safety, just a few desperate soldiers making a stand. Eventually they fall as well, and so the battle was over, and the red cloud angels took their prisoners to the mountains.

In the end, though they lost the green lanterns of China, they were able to retreat from the battle in good order. They only lost 25 percent of their forces, not something that was great but could be put in a good light. Sadly the spin doctors of China were still trying to get a handle on the Chinese justice league defeat. So they were not ready for the green lantern core to return in defeat with a fourth of their number missing and the rest hurt to varying degrees.

This was causing genuine panic before with the Chinese justice league defeat; it hadn't been that bad. As well, they were beaten; they were heroes, so it was widely believed they'd bounce back and defeat whatever villain has beaten them originally. Now though, the equivalent of a Chinese super soldier army has been sent to deal with the threat and has been forced to retreat.

Chinese citizens were fleeing the areas around the Himalayan mountains, going deeper into central China in a bid for safety. It got bad enough that other countries were starting to notice the danger brewing in the Himalayas from who in China was for real to flee them in defeat. There was one watching everything happening with a smile.

Overmachine was enjoying the chaos caused by his benefactor, as it reminded him of when he did the same with his own power. "A fake green lantern core thought they could take on magic powerful enough to raise me from the dead, more powerful than ever before." Overmachine said to himself in a quiet voice before chuckling darkly.

"The foolish truly do try to replicate their betters but always fail due to their lacking ability." Overmachine stated to himself, believing what he had just said to be a fundamental truth. He looked around to see the nods of those who agreed with him. There were none, as the minions were either patrolling or entertaining his benefactor. The only other ones in the room with him were an unconscious Dragonson and the bound goddess of the hunt, Artemis.

"Well, the point was valid even if no one was there to hear it." Overmachine said to himself and then got back to work. He was currently trying to control the changes in Artemis as she was being pumped full of blue cheese. She was resisting it well for the moment, but every second I could tell it was pushing a bit harder, and she was a bit slower to stop it.

"You're running out of time, Goddess." Overmachine said in a dark and foreboding tone. Artemis looked at him with rage for a moment, then got back to work, trying to stop her own corruption. She would eventually fail; this was certain. So there were two real questions that needed to be asked. When would her resistance fail and what would the magic bluecheese Condiment turn her into in the end.

In another place far from the Himalayas a sorceress was working hard at finding ways to bring back her master. Zartanna was surrounded by dozens of books that held the powers of the dark arts. Scattered across the walls were cages each holding a prisoner. Some were demons others were dark sorcerers all in the end were her captives and all shook in fear of her wraith.

One of the dark wizards was currently bound to a stone, sweating profusely and begging for mercy. "Please, I already told you I don't know!" The dark wizard that was skilled in skeleton declared with complete submission and fear. Zartanna merely stared at him with emotion in her eyes. He stared into those emotionless eyes with ones filled with fear.

"Then you are of no use." Zartanna stared coldly, then spoke magic words with a mouth stitched with red lighting. "Tomrot!" Zartanna said quietly, but the effects were rather loud. As red lighting went through the bound dark wizard of skeletons, he screamed in agony as red lighting went through him, doing no damage but causing unimaginable levels of pain to course through every nerve in his body.

His screams echoed across the large chamber. Zartanna looked around the room, her terrified captives looking away or staring at her in horror that they would be next. "One of you will tell me what I want to know eventually. The only question is how many of you will be screaming before that." Zartanna stated with zero emotions and then left the chamber to let her prisoners scream in the screams and her promise.

She left the chamber and went into a hallway that was the only exit out of the chamber. She walked towards another chamber and walked in. The chamber was a lounge area with several pieces of fluffy furniture, she quickly sighed to herself. "Why do they have to be difficult? Can't they just tell me already?" Zartanna said with a sad sigh at the delays her cavities were causing by not telling her what she needed already.

She sat there a moment staring at a large portrait that took up an entire wall in the chamber. It was of Condiment wizard drawn by memory of the battle at his tower in Arkum Asylum. " Master how I hunger for your return to finally feel your touch upon my skin." Zartanna said with pure longing while staring at the portrait of her master.

For a while she did nothing but gaze at the portrait before eventually turning on a nearby TV. She had no interest in it for entertainment; her master's portrait was far superior to any program on TV. She was forced to watch TV so she was up to date on current issues. Just in case the Justice League was dealing with something that would have them calling for her. She would want warning of them coming to make sure they didn't see or hear anything they weren't supposed to.

What came on was the news and their usual bitching about the Mediterranean. The damage is to shipping and relations. How badly the tourist industry would be affected for the countries around the Mediterranean Sea. She didn't care about any of it, and after listing for a few minutes, they talked about nothing else. She was about to turn off the TV and go back to enjoying her master's portrait.

Then out of nowhere a new story was brought up about how the Chinese Justice League and the Chinese Lantern Core had been defeated in the Himalayas. She didn't care and was still moving to turn the TV off until they talked about how they had been in the Himalayas by a red thundercloud shaped like a head. She knew exactly who had the ability to create and control such a thing.

"Master." She said looking at the portrait in awe. "You returned on your own from the dead. " Zartanna continued with joy. She wasted no time she knew exactly what she had to do. She spoke the magic words. "Retsam ot em gnirb!" She yelled aloud and was quickly teleportated to where she wanted to go with an eager smile on her face.
