Is she going to go through with the plan? Or will she bring some of her clothes back up to the apartment?
Seems kind of silly to back out now
Olivia grabbed the small roll of quarters that she had set down on the folding table.
"Hell with it, I already did one of the most embarrassing parts already and turned out fine. I can risk an extra trip down to restart the dryer," she said, sticking some of the change into the machine.
She pressed a few buttons, the latch on the washer clicked, and all of her fabrics were locked inside for the duration of the cycle. She had about an hour to kill before she could move it over, and probably a couple of hours after that to dry. Olivia looked at the clock on the wall.
"3:26 a.m., I should have everything done by the time any of the neighbors are up then. Should be good, just have to get back up-"
Her mumblings were cut off by the sound of the building's front door being pulled open. Olivia felt her heart skip a beat, then two, as she froze in place.
A tenant who works late hours? Maintenance? No, they barely bother to show up at all, let alone at this hour. Probably a tenant then, someone who is definitely going to walk by this room. Olivia realized she was forgetting to breathe, she took a couple of shaky breaths and tightly gripped her roll of coins. She could sprint past, sure, but she was never going to get to the stairs. On the other hand, she could slide behind the door to this room, and hope that she could keep quiet until they walked past.
