The Unsuspecting Target

Mary and Sarah were sitting at a table in the food court after spending a few hours browsing the stores. The multiple shopping bags hanging off of their chairs was a testament to how much fun they were having.

Mary was also able to convince Sarah to wear the red top and skinny jeans. And it was very difficult not to stare.

"Thanks for this. I'm having a lot of fun. I uh, I've never done this with a friend before." May beamed at Sarah.

"Of course girl! I'm having a blast too! And you look incredible! Maybe we should go bikini shopping next." The suggestion made Sarah **** on her water.

"N-no way. Sorry, but that's a line I'm not going to cross." Mary pouted, but nodded.

"So, if no bikinis, then where else do you want to go?" Sarah blushed and looked away.

"Um, well, I uh. I've always wanted to go to a book store with a friend. But I guess that's probably too boring for you." Mary gently took Sarah by the hand.

"Girl, I've dragged you into every clothing store in this mall. I'm more than willing to go book shopping with you." Sarah's face lit up.

"Really! You're the best!" The compliment made Mary blush.

"N-no. I'm just being a good friend. I really like being around you, and it doesn't really matter what we're doing." Now it was Sarah's turn to blush.

"Th-thanks. Me too."

The two talked and ate for a while longer until Sarah suddenly gasped.

"Sarah, are you ok?"

"Oh my god, he's here." Sarah hid her head in her hands.

"Really, where is he?" Sarah pointed over to the other side of the food court.

He definitely looked like a nerd, with the messy hair and glasses, but he looked like the kind of nerd who wearing the label with pride.

"Wow, he's really cute." Sarah snapped her head up.

"Wh-what?"

"Sue me, nerds are my type. And he's got a good body too." Sarah sunk in her seat, looking dejected.

"Don't worry girl, I'm not going to steal him from you. Hell, I'd much rather share him with you." This made Sarah snap up again. She opened her mouth to say something, but all that came out was a squeak.

"I'm going to go get him to join us." Before Sarah could stop her, Mary was already walking towards him.

"Hi cutie!" He looked at her and crossed his arms.

"My friend and I were hoping you'd join us at the book store." Mary didn't notice the scowl on his face.

"Who's paying you?" This question completely threw her off guard.

"What? Paying me?"

"I know who you are. And there's no way in hell that someone like you would want to be anywhere near someone like me unless you're either being paid or dared." Mary was so shocked that her mouth was hanging open.

"Wh-what? No no no no! You got it all wrong! I'm just hanging out with Sarah and-" he didn't let her finish.

"You're just using her for grades. Sarah deserves so much better than you pretending to be her friend." When Mary was too shocked to respond, he turned to leave.

"MARCUS WAIT!" Sarah ran over, which made Marcus stop and turn around. He also blushed once he saw her.

"I know it's hard to believe, I still can hardly believe it myself, but Mary really is my friend. M-maybe you can join us so you can see for yourself." Sarah was giving Marcus a look that would make it feel like a crime against humanity to say no to her.

"Alright, I'll join you. For you." Sarah smiled and grabbed his arm, which turned him red.

"REALLY! Ok, I'm going to grab our stuff!" With that, she ran off.

The duo has turned into a trio.
