Book Shopping
The book store wasn't very big, just a small place where readers can enjoy a good time. The shelves were packed pretty tight, allowing for there to be many more books than it looked.
Sarah was like a completely different person. She was going through the store in a similar way to how Mary would go through a clothing store.
Mary looked lost. Sarah was yapping about some kind of book that she read, and Mary couldn't really follow along. She tried, but she wasn't really sure what Sarah was talking about.
Eventually, Sarah had picked out two books. She handed the smaller one to Mary.
"I understand if you're not much of a reader, but you should give this one a try. The story is really good and the writing is pretty simplistic, so it's easy to understand." Mary smiled and took the book.
"Thanks girl. And thanks for not making a joke out of it." For the first time sense they arrived, Marcus spoke up.
"Sarah's not that kind of person. She's really nice and looks out for others." The compliment turned Sarah red.
"I uh, I'm going to use the bathroom. Mary, hold my book please." Sarah rushed away after handing Mary her book. Marcus picked out his own book before turning to Mary.
"Come on, let's sit over here." He led her over to three comfortable looking chairs. Once they sat down, she spoke up.
"You're wrong about me. I'm not using Sarah for grades. I care about her." Her usual cheeriness wasn't present, instead she sounded serious. Marcus winced at this.
"Yeah, I'm sorry for saying that. I've been embarrassed before, so I got defensive. I'm sorry for lashing out at you." Mary gave him a wide smile.
"It's ok. Let me guess, you've had some bad encounters with shallow highschool bitches." He nodded, making her chuckle.
"Yeah, I get it. I knew plenty of girls like that in highschool, and I still know some like that." The two smiled at each other before Sarah returned.
"Sorry about that. Let's get to reading!" She curled up in the other chair and opened her book.
The three of them stayed like that for a while. Mary was surprised by how much she enjoying the book. She was momentarily distracted when Sarah stood up. The burrnett gave a hopefully glance at Marcus before sitting on a love seat. When Marcus didn't even look up, Mary cleared her throat. He looked up at her, and she gestered over to Sarah. Marcus picked up on it and was about to move when his phone rang.
"Sis, what is it. Again, are you kidding me? Ugh, fine. I'll be on my way, but you owe me." He sighed and stood up.
"I'm sorry girls, but my sister managed to lock herself the men's changing room again. I gotta go rescue her." He quickly put his book back before rushing out. Sarah put her face in her book and sighed.
"Did he just bail on us?" questioned Mary.
"He wasn't lying, if that's what you think. I've seen him drag his sister out of some nasty situations before," said Sarah. Now Mary's annoyance changed to concern.
"That doesn't sound good."
"It's a long story that I don't have many details about." Mary looked at Sarah before sitting next to her.
"Well, if he's not going to cuddle with you, I will." She rested her head against Sarah's shoulder with a satisfied smile. Sarah blushed, but didn't shake her off.
After about 30 minutes, the two of them got up.
"Well, I'm getting this book. What about you?" asked Mary. Sarah looked away in shame.
"I uh, I can't really afford it right now. My roommate stole my spending money." Mary's eyes widened in shock and anger.
"She what." Sarah was taken aback by how dangerous Mary's voice was.
"It's not a big deal. I'd rather not think about it." Mary crossed her arms, but nodded.
"Well, then I'll just buy it for you." Sarah tried to protest, but Mary grabbed the book from Sarah's book and walked to the checkout. Once the books were paid for, the two walked out.
"Thanks for today. I've had a great time." Mary smiled and hooked her arm with Sarah.
"Don't mention it girl! I had a great time too. And if you ever need someone to crash, my door is always open." Sarah smiled at her before resting her head on her shoulder.
"I'll keep that in mind."
Their love story had only just begun.

A Nerd and a Queen Bee
A story of love and friendship
Sarah is pretty much what you would expect from a nerd. Shy, quite, smart, wears glasses and baggy clothing and doesn't like being the center of attention. Mary is pretty much what you would expect from a queen bed. Loves being the center of attention, loud, occasionally bitchy, not the brightest, blonde hair and a killer body. But the two of them form an unlikely friendship that blooms into a romance not just between them, but an unexpecting guy as well.
