After party 10 PM to Midnight

The formal edges of the night are gone. Ties loosened, heels abandoned by the door, two hundred dollars worth of hair slowly losing the battle against humidity and bad decisions.

The living room has become a dance floor, bodies close, lighting low. Two people from AP History are making out in the corner with the focused intensity of people who have been waiting all night for an opportunity.

The backyard is alive, the pool glowing pale blue, a handful of people already in the water in various states of their prom attire. Laughter carries in from outside, loud and unself conscious.

The dining room has been converted into a beer pong arena, a small crowd gathered around the edges, someone already arguing about whether a shot counted.

Miles moves through it all with a drink in hand taking stock.

Janice is in the living room swaying to the music with Maya, heads close, deep in conversation. Maya catches his eye briefly over Janice's shoulder before looking away.

Aria is at the beer pong table, already mid game, focused and competitive, the red dress making her impossible to miss.

Vanessa is outside by the pool, shoes off, watching everything with quiet detached amusement. She looks up as if she felt him looking. Raises her drink slightly.

He turns back to the room.

The night has barely started.
