The question of how someone so young could afford RealDreams' often exorbitant prices lingered in the minds of many. In Curran's case, the answer was both mundane and macabre: a substantial inheritance. When his grandfather, a man who'd worked in 'garbage disposal', left him a vast array of stocks, assets and cash, he had to admit, he was confused. His parents never spoke of him, but maybe that's why everything was left to him. But he wasn't sure his parents even knew he died, they'd been away for months now on some 'business trip' in another universe.

But now he had a house in the middle of nowhere, a secluded beach front property, and enough money to retire a million times over. So he might as well spend it.

And what better thing to buy than a character from RealDreams!

He scrolled through the RealDreams catalog, page after page of faces, some famous, some obscure, all labeled with a price. A Princess Leia, still in her **** bikini, was listed as 'Prime Condition - Unmodified'. Konan and Yahiko from Naruto were a 'Combo Deal'.

He wandered out to his balcony, overlooking the gentle waves that lapped against the secluded beach.

Maybe someone from a comic? He thought, scrolling past a few more pages. But the really depressing storylines go to the guys, like Superboy Prime or Daredevil. Or Spiderman. Definitely Spiderman. What about the girls?

Jean Gray? Maybe Supergirl?

He flicked through characters.

Silk? Her life fuckin sucked for the first 20 years.

Githany? She'd probably kill him, even if he had her modded

Starfire? Shit, maybe.

He made a note of the others he considered and went through the different variations.

"Newest version's a cool design...Who wants a teen titans star-....oh...gross...that one's not really my style...Oh!"

He stopped on the 80s Starfire, with the curly hair.

That's her. He thought. That's the one.

It only took a few clicks, a ridiculous amount of money transferred, and a confirmation email.

At least the first one.
