Children and wives are disowned if the children aren't lucky enough to obtain a crest." She shook her head disapproval. Byleth couldn't help but see the problem - Dorothea's story definitely felt a lot more commonplace.

"There are so many cases like this throughout Fodlan. That's why I intend to free Fodlan from the discrimination and oppression of this Crest based society." Edelgard clenched her fist, before exhaling. "That's why I feel more drawn to Leonie than Ingrid. She's one of the people I'm trying to save."

Byleth could definitely see where she was coming from. Apart from Dorothea, he had heard Ingrid's father had been continuously trying to find her a husband via arranged marriages. And the less said about Lorenz's hard lines on the roles of Nobles and Commoners, the better. Not that he thought that was Edelgard's only reason, but she could share more when she was ready.
