Introductions Are In Order!

Walking into FEAST I was once again greeted by the usual pleasantries from some of the other workers as well as a couple locals. I gave them a quick smile and a wave as I walked further into the building.

The lunch hall wasn’t exactly busy… In fact it almost seemed like May had more staff on duty than she had clients in the building. No one was really causing much of a ruckus, everyone was very calm and orderly, why was I needed urgently today?

“Petra! Baby! Darling! It’s so good to see you!” I hear from behind me, and just the sound of her voice was enough to make me smile. I quickly turned around and was face to face with the most beautiful woman in the world as she walked up to me with her arms open wide for a hug.

“Hey May!” I say, before quickly getting suffocated as she pulls me in for a deep bear hug. It hadn’t been that long since I saw her last but, honestly? I’m not gonna say no to one of Aunt May’s signature hugs today.

She pulls away and gives me a smile, before quickly a frown takes over as she stares at me. “Petra, darling. Are you ok? You look pale… and skinny! Have you eaten today?” She says, putting the back of her hand against my forehead and cheeks as if she was looking to see if I have a fever.

“I’m alright. Just a bit of a weird day so far.” I say with a small awkward chuckle. For a second the image of MJ making out with that football star flashes in my head, but I quickly push it away to get myself back in the moment. “So! What was it you needed help with? It honestly looks like things are kind of under control here.” I say as I motion to the overly calm lunch room.

“Oh yes! Sweet heart, everyone here is doing great. I was just hoping you’d be able to help me train a new volunteer?” She asks, raising an eyebrow slightly. “I’m gonna be pretty busy with paperwork and I was thinking you’d be an absolutely great trainer! Would you mind dear?” She asks as she starts to walk towards the break room, and I hesitantly followed her.

“I… I don’t know May. I’m not very sure I’m in the mood to deal with… people, today.” I say solemnly as I take a deep sigh, glancing down at my phone to see that I still hadn’t had any texts from Gwen or Harriette.

“Oh! Nonsense! You are so great with people! She’ll love you! And who knows, maybe you’ll make a new friend.” She says as she reaches the front door to the break room and pushes it open, where I see a woman sitting down on her phone, though as she sees us she quickly stands up and gives a very cute smile. “Petra, I’d like to introduce you to Mina. Mina Morales!”
