This month I’m going to begin the process of migrating my Slytherin branches of the Gaunt story over to Archive of Our Own.

Since that site doesn’t have ‘interactive’ choose-your-own-adventure style stories, my plan is to present my branches on AO3 as a collection. I’ve gotten the original author - VioletFyre’s (fka Campbell) - permission to repurpose his early pre-sorting chapters which I’ll combine with my pre-divergence chapters as a ‘prologue’ then I’ll split off with two separate stories for the Light and Dark branches divided by year.

Aside for the collection, and the differing site rules, the next biggest difference between CHYOA and AO3 is the lack of the variable function, so I’ll have to pick ONE first name to use for the Gaunt character across the collection.

The default name for this story is Marvolo... but I’m not sure if that’s still the best option for a character who is actively trying to rebrand his family name and set himself apart from his infamous family members who share the ‘Marvolo’ name.

Maybe the new Gaunt needs a new name?

I wrote in the story that Gaunt decided his own first name when he learned his heritage, so I’ll leave it up to you - my loyal CHYOA readers - to choose Gaunt’s name for the AO3-version of the fic. Vote in the comments. If you want to go forward with ‘Marvolo’ write that, if there’s a better name you’ve been using, comment it and I’ll put it on the list.

7-17 Update: Marvolo won and the first chapter has been posted. Since Marvolo won with 4 votes, I worked that into it made Marvolo a reoccurring Gaunt first name.

OUR Gaunt is Marvolo Gaunt IV.

In the meantime, I have a special gift for my readers who have been patiently reading my sexless fanfic on this site for adult erotica.

I wrote a sex scene.

More accurately, I wrote a flash-forward chapter to aged up April 1998 in fifth year where our titular Gaunt character, born January 1st 1980, is eighteen and legally of age - in the real world and as far as this site is concerned.

I thought it would offer you a special glimpse at the future to see what Gaunt gets up to and the sort of things I’m working toward. And it will also allow me to keep this story in the fanfiction category on the site meant for erotic sex stories.

Or at least, writing that one chapter WAS the plan, but I had SO MUCH FUN finally writing out these ideas for future scenes that I’ve had buzzing around in my head like an infestation of wrackspurts for literal YEARS... that I couldn’t stop myself! My one ‘inciting’ chapter with Light-Gaunt and his girlfriend rebelling against Headmaster Umbridge spawned two aftermath chapters showing his (and her) relationships with various other characters. Before I knew it, I had written SEVENTY PAGES!

So enjoy this - much longer than anticipated - glimpse at the future of this story.
