Chapter 5
by Verdant_Hatchling
What would Damon do?
This.
Damon started by disintegrating every person within the chamber he could sense evil from. The few who recognized that they were spared, were still, but some were quick to attempt to flee, which led to Damon disintegrating them as well. No mercy for neglectful advisors or spoiled children. He killed the mother too, though hers was for the fact she had been turned into a vampire at some point, to his surprise.
“I trust you all to make the necessary preparations for her ascension to the throne. I shall grant her an ascension gift a little early, though.” He stated simply before casting Create Greater Construct. Half of the royal castle, which had been evacuated, was suddenly animated. As well as every mountain outside of the city walls. The two hundred foot tall golem made from the destroyed castle tore the left wall of the throne room, as similarly sized golems outside the walls stood ready. Thousands of the hundred foot earthy golems ready to attack any danger, as many more thousands of smaller golems, resembling large knights, began patrolling the streets.
The titanic construct slowly trampled his way through the empty regions of the city, making his way to meet the outer golems.
“These golems will be under the control of Elyra Lalabune when I leave, so watch your steps. One order from her and every one of your heads will fall. Remember that.” The council agreed readily, unenthused at the prospect of angering the godly entity which commanded them so. They quickly dispersed, making their ways to begin the coronation of Elyra, the first Harengon Queen to ever exist in their kingdom’s history, and any others they assumed. As they left, the few people remaining waited patiently for his attention.
He motioned for one of the petitioners to speak, “My liege, my name is Dalia Eleodora, I was the third princess. If I could ask, I wish to be wed to you.” She asked honestly, though was refused, with her leaving, the ones with the same request beginning to leave.
The others had useless propositions which were refused, and they dispersed, leaving Damon alone with his Hydra Hound and Ember. Though, before long, Elyra was brought before him, the crowd from before regathered, and so proceeded the inauguration of Elyra Lalabune, as the rightful Queen of the newly anointed Lepus-Chalybe.
Damon used his Elemental Mastery to create a mighty throne of obsidian, which he abruptly ripped from the underground, shocking every being who watched on. He motioned for Elyra to sit upon the throne and she acquiesced. A uniform rumbling occured, as the innumerable constructs he’d created, all began to stamp the heavy rumble into the surroundings, somehow comforting the countless, formerly hopeless peasantry.
“I give you my congratulations on your ascension, the castle will be repaired within the week. Your aide’s loyalties are all but assured, otherwise they will die.” He crossed his current mission from the nonexistent list. “I will be leaving now, though I will return within the year.” He looked at Elyra, winking at her. “The constructs will outlast every being of this kingdom, so they will protect it all the while. Goodbye.” He abruptly sprouted the absurdly large wings from his back, shocking the present people.
His Hydra Hound began to flap its wings, forcing many present from their feet. It took to the sky, Damon soon following, leaving a speechless crowd, and a love-stricken Queen, who was intensely loyal to the one who’d just left.
She solemnly swore to make herself worthy of his actions.
Damon flew through the sky, following the titanic Hydra puppy he had. Ember followed, clasped tightly to his chest, within a molten tunic which was harmless to him. His boundless cloak followed, heroically fluttering through the wind endlessly.
He passed over hundreds of miles of forestry and small villages. If he saw crimes occurring, he quickly dispatched the criminals and continued on, his loyal hound flying through the sky peacefully.
He slowly made his way towards a mighty mountain in the distance. Finding his way to it, he was met with a many thousands of feet tall range, the actual top, far above the clouds.
Damon flew quickly through the frosty air, eventually making his way to the top. A sheer pinnacle, atop the world. 40,000 feet above the ground, he was surprisingly not bereft of air.
He began to utilize his Elemental Magic to carve a large cavern from the summit of this mighty mountain. Twenty minutes later, he was within a grand cave, one any dragon would be jealous of. The Hydra Hound, who he chose to name Elgyradon, the Eater of All, or Elgy for short, was resting near the future spot for his throne.
He summoned a lesser elemental to inhabit the variety of sconces he had placed throughout the grand hall.
Damon was remiss of an objective, but was conveniently interrupted by a notification.
Around Damon, the cavernous hoe had crafted, slowly formed into an ornate, Enhanced Quartz walls, easily capable of withstanding a Dragon’s wrath. The newly refurbished cave was then coated in gold of all varieties, undoubtedly over thirty million Gold Coins worth.
Then abruptly, Damon felt a twinge within his chest, his heart suddenly strengthened, a draconic tinge began slowly infecting his being. Crimson scales began forming patches around his body, notably upon his back , where the wings grew from, as well coating his legs, as well as various other spots across his form. He felt a sudden, heavy growth atop his head.
He slowly reached for the protrusions, eventually finding the base of a mighty set of horns, extending nearly two feet from his scalp in a winding fashion, ending with razor sharp points.
Damon suddenly felt a burning within his chest, as well as a low rumbling, and as he coughed out, a spurt of flames flew forth. “I’m part dragon? That’s fucking awesome! Oh, I’ll be so strong, I, I fucking…” Damon was speechless, as he braced his form, and after a brief pause.
He released a fearsome burst of flames, as though he were a flamethrower. The mighty spires of raging fire inspired a sense of pride within him.
He noticed an old notification he hadn’t seen.
What was it?
