Chapter 4
by Verdant_Hatchling
Where is Damon Steel?
Here.
Damon Steel was making his way to the royal castle. Seeing the multitude of guards being eaten by the monstrosities the peasants had no remorse, the braver ones even arming themselves with the fallen guard’s weaponry and following the constructs to aid in combat, though they would mostly just be shouting angrily at the guards while they were torn apart.
Through his Partial Omniscience, he saw the king sitting in his throne room, completely unworried for the destruction unfolding outside his home.
Damon opened a portal in the room, and entered with a thump, drawing the attention of the king, who shouted for his guards.
Portals were formed, blocking every entry point within the room immediately. Seeing that none of his protection was coming to his aid, he was worried, but did not beg. “I see by your wings, you are a dragon in disguise. I know your kind love gold, I can give you hundreds of thousands of Gold coins within the hour, more if you give me some time.” He appeared to be calm, but he was shaking.
“Yesss. Bring me as much gold as you can, I will spare you and your pathetic kingdom. Make haste, your fate relies on it.” A portal appeared beneath the king, dropping him ten feet behind Damon, from fifteen feet high, nearly breaking his ankles, as Damon walked slowly to the throne, taking the seat, as the unnamed elemental appeared, melting the Adamantine throne, slowly absorbing the bits which melted as it progressed. “Best hurry, little king.” He brought his hand upward, and with a snap of his fingers, a mighty flame appeared, burning every banner which symbolized this kingdom's strength, and melting the crown atop the king's head to a crispy slab, singing his scalp.
“I will return as quick as I can with as much gold as I can, I promise.” He looked to his chest, a portal had appeared, and through it he could see directly into the eyes of the mighty figure upon his throne, utterly reminding him of Damon’s omniscient presence, crushing all hopes of escape. Thus, he left, setting out to collect all of the gold he could for the draconic entity he assumed Damon was.
As Damon waited upon the throne, he accepted another Transmigration Starter Kit.
Realizing he had so many points, he put them all in Strength. And he was suddenly twenty pounds heavier, all muscle.
Remembering the ring he’d gotten, he put it on.
And was greeted by the violent apparition of an enormous Draconic Hydra Hound, a starting six heads at the end of ten foot long necks, each resembling a large husky, though they were scaly, and had a vicious fire breath. The body was one of an adult Greater Dragon, mighty wings taking a third of the room up when extended, and with a surprisingly, bushy tail, which began wagging incessantly.
Damon was happy with the cute monstrosity he’d been given. He had it sit peacefully at his feet, and it shortly was sleeping peacefully. He then accepted two of the lesser Skill Draws.
He was amazed at what the God considered lesser skills, though he was greatly pleased. He then accepted two more.
Seeing the skills he’d been granted, again not really lesser spells in his perspective, but they were greatly appreciated. He had a thou, casting Conjure Elder Elemental, but focusing its effect onto the elemental inhabiting the Adamantine blob.
And then a burst of light, a holy shine, as well as a draconic hellfire, present in the glow. The form of a fiery pixie taking its place upon her. Damon was in awe that it worked.
Before he could say a word, the elemental introduced herself, “Hiya, my names Ember Firesglow, but you can call me Ember.” She extended a small hand towards him, looking for a handshake.
Damon went to shake her tiny hand, but was abruptly engulfed in the amorphous blob that Ember controlled. He was nearly drowning, until a bubble formed around him, as the form of the pixie-ish elemental was embracing him upon the throne. Damon’s arms went towards the ceiling immediately after.
Suddenly, the king had returned, an entourage of countless individuals bringing an endless line of gold and other treasures into the room, and the king was immensely surprised by the absurdly large Hydra variant, which apparently was this being’s pet, as well the flaming elemental within his lap. The aura from the fire could be sensed clearly, even at his basic knowledge of elementals. Her aura was that of a Greater Elemental, a being of legend, capable of destroying kingdoms alone, having an expansive history of doing just that for being the smallest transgressions.
Damon rose from the throne of melted Adamantine, Ember floated through the air, following him as he walked through the treasures. He began to take every item he passed into his Inventory. As he finished taking the heaping piles of gold, it totaled to 2,560,897 gold coins. (Converted to $25,608,970)
As he continued, he took hundreds of items of great importance, possible national treasures, the worth of every item was apparent. It was a veritable dragon’s hoard. He was enjoying gazing at the treasures as he collected them. After he took every item they had presented him, and of course, every item they’d kept hidden away, in the various vaults around the castle, were in his Inventory. He had hundreds of royal artifacts and ancestral treasures, which made him superbly happy.
After he took the total wealth of this powerful king, he began laughing, “Yes, this will do, you have earned the lives of every subject of your kingdom to be saved.”
“That’s wonderful, I’ve once again survived an insurmountable challenge.” The arrogant king was quick to declare, but he looked at his hands in dismay, slowly disintegrating into dust. “But, I thought, what?”
“Not your life, though.” Damon laughed loudly. None who helped him bring in the treasures went to his defense, so he left them with some words, “The Duke’s estate has become the home of the rebellion. The rebellion leader, by the name of Elyra Lalabune, has become the rightful heir of this kingdom. Any resistance will be met with my unmerciful hands.” Damon declared to the powerful people the departed king had gathered to meet with him, the various advisors to the king, as well as his children and mother and one brother and sister.
He could sense the evil within two of the children, both fully grown adults, and the brother of the king.
What would Damon do?
