Looking for Life

The morning proves uneventful, as Shadowheart and I scour the surrounding landscape, looking for anything and everything useful, in the hopes of stumbling across some civilisation. The highlights of our search included the fresh corpse of a white haired man, a scrap with a few four legged brains, and the severed hand of a man clad in purple.

Shadowheart: "It really looks like we avoided the worst of it."

Tav: "Lucky us"

It isnt long before we hear hushed voices.

???: "Zorru was right, yellow as a toad and twice as ugly"

I motion to Shadowheart to approach quietly, and we drop into a crouch. Peering through the shrubbery we spy a pair of Teiflings, one male, one female, standing below Lae'zel, who is suspended above the ground with a length of rope shibari style.

Lae'zel: "If you mean to shoot me while Im defenceless Istik, do so quickly, such a position is humilating"

The Tieflings ready their crossbows and take aim, right as a breeze rotates Lae'zel and she meets my eyes. Her mouth doesnt move but I hear her voice in my head.

Lae'zel: "Get rid of them"

The Teiflings steel themselves and breath deeply as I break stealth and appear from the shrubbery.

Tav: "Woah, whats going on here?"

The woman startles, accidentally firing her crossbow into the trees.

Male Teifling: "Oh! A guest. We caught this thing trying to sneak up on us"

Female Teifling: "Eavesdropping on our conversation and all."

I take a step toward Lae'zel, pretending to inspect her. With a **** gasp I step back.

Tav: "This creature is dangerous. You two should get to safety, Ill take care if this."

The Teiflings hesitate for a moment, then nod.

Male: "Thank you. We arent fighters."

And the two of them run off.

Lae'zel: "Get me down."

Tav: "After you say Thank you."

Lae'zel: "You might as well suggest a wyvern bow to worms"

I fold my arms stubbornly, and she sighs.

Lae'zel: "The cure I offer will suffice as thanks."

I throw a dagger at the rope suspending the bound woman, and she falls to the ground with a thud. Now that her binds are loosened, she breaks free surprisingly quickly and gets to her feet.

Lae'zel: "You have made an ally from Creche K'llir. This Zor-ru those imbeciles mentioned said he saw my kin. We must find their camp and extract more information from him."

Shadowheart: "Careful, she obviously sees your kindness as weakness"

Tav: "There is safety in numbers. We've seen what happens when youre alone. We'll go together to this camp, get more information, nicely, then make an informed desicion"

Lae'zel: "Kainyank. The desicion is made. We interrogate this Zor-ru and make way to the nearest Creche"

Shadowheart: "If youd like to travel alone, I'm more than happy to cut you loose."

Lae'zel: "Your master already said there is safety in numbers. Would you be so quick to turn against his wishes?"

Shadowheart: "I serve only one mistress and it is certainly not him!"

Lae'zel: "Yet you follow him around like a lovesick puppy, perhaps you simply wish to bred."

Shadowheart: "How dare --"

Tav: "Enough! We dont have time for this. We need to work together to get these tadpoles out of our heads"

Shadowheart: "Fine. But once thats done, either I leave, or she does."

Lae'zel: "We are in agreement. I will allow you to lead, for now."
