Redecorating, Relocating and a Discovery
Daphne was wandering around the castle. Unlike the others she had nothing in particular to do. Helping Hilda had been interesting and it had given them both a lot to think about. Hilda on "jobs" and "roles"... And Daphne on her place here. "Not that I'm staying necessarily," she muttered to herself. "But I shall be here for awhile before we figure things out permanently."
She'd decided a light bit of exploration was in order. She'd found that most of the bedrooms were "upstairs". Even the guest rooms and old servants quarters were located above other things and areas. The only exceptions appeared to be a handful of rooms in the basement or "dungeon" area and the outer wings. Most of the first and goodly portions of the second floor were taken up by the kitchen, conservatory, dining, parlor, living and family rooms. as well as a den, trophy room, armory, library, media rooms and an office. Bellow there was the wine cellar, bar, games and billiards rooms as we'll as several others and the inner courtyard that had the gate that opened up out to the back where the pool and other areas were.
"I wonder what this large sunken floored room is going to be used for?" She shrugged looking in one of the big lower rooms in particular.
Some had been sparsely furnished like her room while others remained empty so far. "Right they only recently took up residency here... Well it's no Hogwarts but it's not some basic keep either. It looks like several other rooms have been made up. They most be expecting more people or Characters. Oh there's Dorothy."
She saw Dorothy busy moving boxes of things and furniture. She made it look easy, and perhaps it was for her, but they looked like some of them weighed quite a bit. "Hello, Dorothy."
Dorothy looked up. "Hello there, Daphne. May I assist you?"
Daphne shook her head. "Actually I was going to offer you my assistance since I'm just wandering around but I'm not sure how much help I'd actually be."
Dorothy tilted her head. "I appreciate the offer. Actually I have something here you might be interested in." She walked over to an old trunk. "I believe these are the things from David's schooldays at Hogwarts. He said you might be interested in them and wish to use some to decorate your quarters with so I remembered seeing it the other day and sought it out today for you."
Daphne smiled seeing the trunk emblazoned with the Hogwarts crest. "Yes,he mentioned that to me as well! Thank you, Dorothy."
Dorothy nodded. "It was my pleasure. Shall I assist you in taking it to your room?"
Daphne shook her head and bent to pick it up... But it really was quite heavy. "Sorry to trouble you but would you mind? If I had my wand I'd make easy work of it in a pinch but as it is..."
Dorothy shook her head. "It's no trouble at all," she assured her as she picked up the trunk effortlessly. "Shall we take the shortcut?"
Daphne blinked then grinned at what Dorothy was implying. She'd been wondering about secret passages and the like and secretly hoping to find some but she hadn't yet. "Yes, please?"
Dorothy nodded roboticly but secretly was pleased. No one had been this eager before. She opened the window, slung the trunk over one deceptively dainty appearing shoulder, then Dorothy over the other and jumped.
Dorothy screamed as they practically flew out the window before landing on top of a tree branch. Leaping from there to another tree, to the roof of the garage then running quickly and leaping up the wall until landing on top of the parapet. Dorothy quickly ran towards the keep proper and leaped once again landing on another window ledge. "We have arrived at your room, Daphne."
Daphne, though frozen with shock, hadn't actually passed out. She wanted to yell at the insane "android", complain about the impropriety... But instead what came out after that insane and quick "shortcut" was laughter which surprised even herself. She laughed and then laughed some more as she struggled to open her window for them.
Once she had Dorothy carried her inside and set her and then the trunk down gently. "Daphne. You're laughing. May I inquire why you are so amused?"
Dorothy laughed and spun sitting on her bed. "Ahahahah! That was fun, Dorothy! Almost as fun as broom riding! Hehehee! Thank you, Dorothy! I quite enjoyed the "shortcut"! Ohohoho!"
Dorothy gave a dainty little curtsey. "It was my pleasure, Daphne. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Is " broom riding" fun?"
Daphne smiled nodding at memories of broom riding as well as seeing the contents of the trunk when she opened it up. It was much larger on the inside and was packed full of many things from her world that were familiar to her. Dave's school uniform in Slytherin colors, text books, house banners and other school supplies of course but there were a plethora of other things as well. Quidditch posters for various teams, some Zonko and Weasly products, Chocolate frog wizard cards and yearbooks to name just a few. "Flying is a lot of fun actually and- Oh! Wow! Speaking of!"
She spotted a nmber of different broomsticks from an antique Silver Arrow and what appeared to be a custom order hand made broom to modern Nimbus 2001's, a Transylvanian Barb and even a Firebolt. "What a collection! David must have really loved flying! To think he had to keep it secret and pretend to be rubbish... Such a shame!" She sighed wistfully and looked at Dorothy. "I really wanted to play Quidditch but unlike the other houses girls weren't aloud on Slytherin team. Captain Flynt was just as Dave described him... An unpleasant, foul git. He kept up the tradition of keeping the girls off the Slytherin team, the troll brain. I honestly think it was one of the reasons Slytherin preformed as poorly as it did. Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor all had girls on their rosters and there were many extremely successful professional female players."
Dorothy nodded. "I still have no idea how a broom can fly. Mine certainly doesn't. But I understand. That must have been frustrating for you, Daphne. I'm certain David would likely let you fly."
Daphne nodded but sighed. "He'd likely want something in return though. I still haven't figured out what to offer him in exchange for my wand and powers back." She started idly flipping through the yearbooks. "I guess I'll have to think of something. I don't suppose you have any ideas?"
Dorothy blinked roboticly. "What did he give you in exchange for you taking your top off last night?"
Daphne blushed at being reminded of her behavior... Then groaned in dawning realization. "Nothing! I'm such a fool! If I was going to do something like that I should have bargained instead of getting caught up in the moment like I did! How did I miss that opportunity!?"
Dorothy shrugged. "David is not a normal louse. He's an expert louse. You need to be on your guard at all times, Daphne."
Daphne sighed shaking her head. "He actually didn't do much. In fact I got to see more of...!" She blushed and shook her head smiling. *I saw so much! Maybe I did get the better deal after all,* she thought to herself before saying, "Actually it was that Harley now that I think about it... She's more clever than she looks!"
Dorothy nodded. "Probably. Harley is actually a doctor of psychology and an analyst on top of being mentally questionable and morally challenged with a background in criminal psychology as well as becoming one herself. Don't forget that both she and Tink have been here on Prime with David for years as well. There's no telling what they know and may have learned in their time here."
Daphne nodded and smiled. "Good advice. Thank you again, Dorothy. I think I'll definitely use these things to decorate and I'll definitely keep your advIce in mind."
Dorothy nodded "You're very welcome, Daphne. It was my pleasure." She quickly curtsied and then lept out the window.
Daphne chuckled. "She's surprisingly amusing!" She set the yearbooks aside. "I definitely want to give these a look through later... But first let's redecorate!" She pulled out a Slytherin tapestry smiling.
Dave smiled. "So Midna will be coming home today."
"Awesome!" Harley said grinning but Tink frowned and elbowed her. "Ow! What the heck Tiny T?!"
Tink shook her head. "You dummies!" She smiled at Midna and even fluted over to hug her. "Don't get me wrong dear. I'm so happy you're coming home!" She turned back towards Dave specifically though. "Are you really just going to bring her home like that? She's finally getting out for a bit... Shouldn't you take her somewhere date like first?"
Dave smacked his head. "Oh you're right, Tink! How could I be so stupid?! I haven't taken any of them out on "dates" yet have I?"
Harley lifted her finger. "Technically you have! Kaska and Saki country right?"
Dave sighed. "Great I've been "virtual dating"! That's so not weird and even if that counts that still doesn't explain not having dates with the others or even you or Tink? When was the last tie I took you two "out" on a " date"?"
Harley scratched her head. "Does going to RealDreams last week count?"
Dave facepalms. Midna laughed. "So you want to have a "date" with me? I take it's a courtship ritual of some kind spent doing an activity?" She sees them nod. "Aha! And do I get to pick the activity?"
Dave nodded. "Absolutely! That's perfectly reasonable to me-"
"Then I want to go see my new home!". Midna winked at them. "Besides he already promised me something fun to do! Sounds good to me!"
Dave blinked then slowly smiled. "Yeah... I didn't forget! Dancing! Maybe we can even go out dancing soon!"
Harley grinned at Tink. "See? A night out dancing and hitting da club! Looks like everything is fine!"
Daphne blinked. "What's this? It was buried under all the other stuff?"
It was a box in the trunk and it hadn't been opened. It had a letter attached that had been opened though and then put back in the envelope. "Maybe it was something he ordered through the wizard post but then didn't need?"
She'd finished redecorating for now. The walls of her temporary room were adorned with memorabilia and things from her "world". Most of it was Hogwarts and Slytherin related but there were quite a few other things as well. She'd since started going through to find other things that might be fun to decorate the castle with. Awards for "Special Service" to the School were interesting as well as his awards for academic excellence, a diploma, some trophies and pictures and two paintings. Both were currently empty. One had been wrapped carefully and the other hadn't and looked like it had been carelessly tossed inside as an after thought.
She pulled out the letter attached to the box reading. [Stark. Congratulations on finishing attendance of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Experience. Hope you enjoy the school memories!] She blinked. "That's odd. It must be more pictures or something. He never opened it up after receiving it? Strange. There shouldn't be any harm in looking. I'm curious to learn more about how this Hogwarts was..."
She shrugged and opened up the box. "Let's see... oh, it looks like one of those recording devices and a huge photo album among other things! Let's see here..." she pulled out the album and opened it up. "*Gasp* What the fuck?!" She slammed it closed again blushing. She looked around herself even though she knew she was alone before hesitantly cracking it open again to peek at the contents as if she were afraid they'd escape.
"Bloody hell!" She whispered.
