Hang Your Hat Pt 3

After repeating the same thing with all the remaining ladies they were all hanging out in the great room talking and having a good time. It was strange though because Walter had expected them all to come at once into the big room while he gave them the earrings.

But they all did the same thing as Blake had and gone one at a time into that huge space where it was just the two of them. And just like with Blake, each one either kneeled or lay on the couch in front of the fire as he did it, then spent time with their head in his lap. Even Sienna had stretched out, belly up on the couch comfortably like a big cat in a Sunbeam! The next girl practically had to drag her away.

Ahnassi and Lifts-Her-Tail her tail had both twitched their tails happily when it was their turns. And Kali had actually drooled and been almost as bad as Sienna! He was relived when it was Pyrrha's turn but that was also a mistake. She was almost as red as her hair as she lay her head in his lap. He got concerned and thought there might be something wrong but she seemed happy. Relieved when it was over Penny and Neo came out holding hands and each took their turn putting their heads in his lap together. Penny curled up on the right side and Neopolitan on the left. They already had earrings but he had something else for them instead so he let them have their fun so they didn't feel left out.

He wondered what it was? Had Kali put something strange in the omelets? She was having that strange reaction before. He decided he'd have to check. The security was beyond top notch but it wouldn't be the first time things had accidentally been brought in or left behind. He was pretty sure the spot by the fireplace was part of the reason too. It was really nice and relaxing and the weather while warming up was still crisp. He made a mental note to get plenty of extra firewood this year.

Patting both ladies he told them,"Come with me." Penny and Neo nodded and followed him. He took them down to the cellar. It was a big massive space that was quite old and part of the original structure. It had been updated quite a bit since those olden days but that wasn't where he wanted to take them.

He took them down a much newer set of stairs into a place that looked ultra modern, even futuristic. It reminded them of Atlas. He touched a wall and something happened as it just disappeared revealing a large room behind it. There were various odd machines doing things. Some seemed to be stationery and sat there working on things. Others moved around as if of their own accord. One shaped with a short cylindrical body with a central lens on it's conical head with two legs and third "foot" rolled their way beeping and chirping. It was holding something out.

Walt knelt down and took it patting the metal robot on the conical head. "Thanks R6." The droid chirped and whirled around and away.

Looking at the two of them He said. "Welcome to level one, ladies."

Neo whistled silently while Penny had a feeling and asked,"This is a laboratory of sorts isn't it, Walter?"

Walt figured she'd catch on quick. "In a manner of speaking. Down here I can work on home projects and business, tinker, etcetera. Friday is down here too. Her actual "cores" are much, much lower but you could think of this part as the "doorway" to her "room" in the house. Well one of them. It's more acurate to think of the whole structure as part of Friday. The upper part would be something like resting on her skin if she were a living creature. Like the shell on a hermit crab,"

(("I'm not sure I would have used that analogy, Boss. Welcome Penny and Neopolitan. Walter and I wanted to bring you down here to fit you for your glasses if you'd like them?"))

Neo nodded and waved while Penny cheerfully said, "Salutations Friday!"

Walt looked at some objects on the desk. "These look very good Friday. Well done." As he waved the girls to come over.

(("I'm glad you are pleased, Boss."))

There were a series of different green glasses frames and two monitors. "These are just the frame prototypes. Try them on and see which type fits you best. Then you can choose a color you might like."

Penny and Neo grinned. While they liked Walter's they were a little bit big for them. Neo especially. They hurried over and excitedly started trying on pairs and checking themselves out in the monitors.

Neo used her semblance to take on the appearance of Yang and slipped on a pair of aviators causing Penny trying on some cats eye frames to laugh. Walt did too seeing them having fun.

He stepped to the side and moved away whispering to Friday. "Friday. Don't cause any alarm but there was a bit of strangeness after breakfast when giving them the earrings. I'm thinking maybe there was something in the kitchen or a strange ingredient. Whatever it was seemed to affect the Faunus, Khajit and Argonian most so maybe it's something like catnip? It doesn't appear to be harmful but could you please quietly search and analyze? Thank you."

(("I will Boss. Assuming you ate the same thing I'm showing no indications of strange substances in your body. Shall we take samples to be certain?"))

Walt thought about it. "No. I think that's a bit overkill. I wasn't sure if maybe Deadpool or one of the others had dropped a baggie or something when they were here the other day. For all we know Edna could have glaucoma or Rarity just likes to relax and unwind after work."

(("I had run a full check and detected nothing out of the ordinary upon their arrival other than you and Deadpool hitting it off. I've also just finished reviewing this mornings ingredients and there was nothing suspicious. Would you like me to run a further check? I could review the ladies data if you wish to pry?"))

Wakter knew she could but he knew, that she knew, he wouldn't. "No, that's quite alright."

(("Shall I analyze their hormonal balances for you, Sir?"))

"No, not today thanks-"

(("Make you aware of all their secret confidences perhaps?"))

"No!"

(("Review all of the private footage then? There were quite a few things they tried out when shopping for example that I think you would be interested in."))

"Ok. That's enough, Friday. Thank you."

(("Yes, Boss. Congratulations on staying above reproach in your personal affairs, as usual. Let me know if you change your morality."))

"Thank you, Friday." He said while walking back to the ladies.

(("You're welcome, Boss."))

Back upstairs with their new glasses they had rejoined the others. Neo, who had just been granted level one access like Penny was astonished at the amount of information and data they provided to her about everything.

Time for the next step. He showed the girls around. Where the armory and the range was, the gym, the barns and bunkhouse, etc.

He knew Ahnassi and Lifts-Her-Tail's world of Nirn still relied on horse's for a lot of travel and they knew the basics and he knew from their discussion that morning both Pyrrha and Neo had a fair bit of horsemanship. But none of the other ladies did which wasn't surprising. Atlas was pretty high-tech in the world of Remnant which had a surprising mishmash if technology and fantasy elements and Menagerie was a pretty small island nation so the Faunus didn't really have a need for horses in getting around much. Penny, Blake, Kali and Sienna were all excited to learn about horsemanship though and the others would like more experience, so that was something to look forward to.

He took them to the garage. All of the ladies from Remnant knew the basics of operating vehicles from their world so that would be a helpful and make transitioning to the vehicles he had easy for them. Conversely neither Ahnassi nor Lifts-Her-Tail were familiar with vehicles at all. Outside of leftover dwemer ruins and artifacts Nirn didn't have much in the ways of automation so that would be a skill the others could help them with. He showed them the vehicles both normal and off road, the atv's and dirtbikes and mountain bikes. Ahnassi, despite having no experience with them, was a natural with the bicycles but Walter had figured she might with acrobatics being her main skill. Her sense of balance made it easy for her to pick up and while it wasn't as easy for Lifts-Her-Tail, she was getting the hang of it with everyone's encouragement.

"Alright, I think we can cover horsemanship here. With access to Friday you all are getting a personalized and guided instruction and tutoring on this worlds modern living, practices and technologies at your disposal 24/7, so that's well covered. We'll have you all see some 3S instructors for driving, self-defense and firearms basics tomorrow and take it from there. Even those of you who are non combatants can benefit from the knowledge of the basics. Lets add basic first-aid. Most of you will pass through the basics easily. Please help those who do not. When you pass the basics we'll see how much more you might want learn. Was there anything else you all should know or like to learn?"

They put forth a few basics like cooking and other skills but Friday could teach/coach them through most of the basics. Walt looked at Neo.

"Neo." She looked at him. He started moving his hands and fingers through a series of signs and gestures while talking to her. "Would you and the others be interested in learning the basics of sign language?"

She blinked at him.

"What is sign language?" Asked Penny.

He kept moving his hands and gesturing. "Sign language is a nonverbal way of communicating using your hands and fingers. Everything I'm speaking right now, I'm also communicating with my hands."

Neo looks shocked. Most of the others are surprised as well.

"There's a whole language that uses just your hands to communicate?" Blake asked.

Walt signed/spoke,"Yes. There is. It's something I always wondered about. I take it nobody ever came up with the idea in your world. It's a handy skill to know. Not everyone does though. I thought you might like another way to communicate with each other rather than using using just your expressions, writing or relying on Friday or myself. Sign language will give you a silent voice for your words."

"That's amazing!" said Pyrrha.

"Ahnassi, thinks this is a wonderful idea!" she said.

"I agree," said Sienna. "That could be very useful skill."

Everone else seems to be in agreement.

Penny looks at Neo,"Do you want us to all learn sign language together, Neo?"

Everyone is looking at Neopolitan now.

Neo is still.

There was a whole other way for her to communicate, in another world from her own. Perhaps it might have changed her life. Perhaps it still might. There's only one way to find out.

She approached Walt, gripping his shirt tight and burying her face in it she nods. She keeps nodding her head her expression hidden. Walt hugs her and she grips him tight. Everyone puts a hand on Neo's back so she knows she has their support. They'll all do this together.

Walt, knowing that Neo needed a moment, sends the rest back to the house. He looks away so he can't see her face that she's hiding and hands her his bandana...

"Kali and Lifts-Her-Tail asked me to get some supplies... want to tag along? It could be a better date than watching me do chores this morning." Walt pats the truck.

Neo takes the bandana and stepping back with her head down wipes her face while thinking it over.

"We could get ice cream... Neopolitan."

She raises her head and gives him a long stare.

Walt raised an eyebrow with a smirk. "Is that a "no"?"

Neo turns... and skips happily around to get in the truck.
