Chapter 25 by Caesar25 Caesar25

What's next?

Move from branch to branch

With the Vornskr still lurking around below, you chose not to get any closer to them. With **** jumps to enhance your physical strength, you make jump after jump across distant and large branches. The predators don't seize to follow you though, they mirror your progress on the ground level, waiting for any mistake you make, to eat what's left of you once you fall from the trees. Unfortunately for you, you tire out long before they would and sit down to rest on a thicker branch. They keep looking upwards at you, laying down just below the tree.

Lana (breathing heavily): Okay, this is clearly not going to work... I can't outrun them no matter what. It seems I must find a way to deal with them aggressively. Maybe throw something on them or something...

Looking around you, you find nothing heavy enough that could be used to throw onto them.

Lana: Ah, there is nothing up here, only huge branches...! Wait, what if... Hmm... Maybe I could pull a branch so powerfully to make it break off right onto them! It's worth a try nonetheless!

You select a heavy looking branch right above the Vornskr and use **** pull to slowly but steadily bend it. It's cracking and slowly giving in to the ****, weakening its connection to the trunk of the tree. When it finally breaks you release it and it falls right towards your hunters. They have realized what you were up to and scattered before the branch could fall onto them, returning after if landed, looking and barking at you again.

Lana: Really...?! Damn dogs, why can't you just die or leave me be already?!

Looking further to find something else to throw on them, you spot an over sized solid seed pod just above you. It seems to have a very strong shell around it, the whole thing having at least a 5 meter diameter. It's only connected to the branch above it by a thin part, maybe if you sever it, it will fall faster and not leave time for the Vornskr to react and scatter. You jump up next to the seed pod to make it fall, by **** crushing the connecting part above it. The fibers are easily severed, sending the seed pod down onto the Vornskr. They didn't see that one coming, it crashed a few of them underneath. The ground shakes as the seed pod crushes into the ground, sending out both a shock wave and a loud noise, to which all nearby birds fly away from the trees in fear. The seed pod you sent down wasn't empty though. Now you see from this angle, that it had a big hole on its other side. Just after you spotted the entrance on it, a large Skreev crawls out of the seed pod. It seems it had been living in there, it must be very angry for having its home ruined just now!

Skreevs are bat like predator creatures, roughly of 2-3 meters tall. They are native to Dxon, often being one of the most fearsome carnivores of their respective areas.

Lana: Oh-oh, not good, better get out of here!

The Skreev gets out of its seed pod and attacks the Vornskr on sight. They fight it back, but the Skreev has the upper hand, as it can fly away and strike from above whenever it wants to. You use this distraction to get away from both species unnoticed, however, while fighting the Vornskr, the Skreev accidentally knocks you off of a branch as it flies past you. You fall down onto many many gigantic leafs, which mitigate the damage you would get from the fall. In the end, you fall into the mud just from a few meters above, essentially surviving the long way down without a scratch. Without a second though, you run without even thinking where you are heading, just wanting to be as far from here as possible. After a long and tiresome sprint through the vegetation, you find the river you have seen earlier from the trees. You can finally drink something to ease your thirst! As you do, you take a glimpse at your wrist and the locator in no longer flashing its red light. Probably the fall damaged it, rendering it useless. Now you cannot be found by the Children of the Watch, should they be coming to pick you up.

Lana (knocking the locator): No, no no no no no! That cannot be happening! If it's not working I'm stuck here for good!

Meanwhile back in the camp of the Children of the Watch they noticed the shut down of the locator.

Mandalorian: Boss, the girl's locator stopped sending its signal.

Leader: She might have been eaten already. Didn't even last as long as I had expected her to. Though, she might still surprise us later.

Mandalorian: How could she?

Leader: We have all seen some of our kin return after their locators were damaged. But she will have to get back here on her own, I won't send out searching parties to find a possibly dead girl. Let's get back to work!

When you accept the fact, that the locator cannot be repaired, you take it off and toss it into the river in frustration. How are you going to get back home, you wonder. While thinking on your misery, you get the idea of following the river's flow, it might lead somewhere, plus its easier to let yourself be carried by the mild current, than fight yourself through the dense vegetation on the ground. While floating on a piece of wood for some time, you have decided to settle in a cave. It should provide some cover and protect you from the elements. Keeping your eyes open on the wood, you spot a big cave entrance at not far from the shore. You let go of the wood and swim to the shore to see it for yourself. It seems empty, very deep and dark inside, but overall, a nice spot to spend the incoming days, weeks, months or whoever knows how much time. You collect some bigger leafs to make a makeshift bed for yourself, plus some smaller branches to make a fire to keep yourself warm. Piling up the branches, some **** lightning onto it and the fire is already set.

As your new home gets more and more comfortable, your stomach reminds you, it hasn't been provided anything in the last two days. With a blaster you could easily hunt down something to roast over the fire, but bare handed... Well, time to try that too! Without wandering too far away from your cave, you can't find anything worth trying to eat... There are only small rodent like creatures running around, with a huge amount of insects both on the ground and in the air. Lastly, trying to pick some fruit always seems a good idea. Until you find almost all of them in a rotten state on the trees, those that aren't rotten have such a disgusting smell or look you couldn't possibly **** them down on your throat. Neither of the options seem to be fine... {if Drain life = true}Remembering the life draining technique Ranvi taught you, you siphon the life essence from a few plants, even a tree or two, but none of their small life energies feed you enough to be full. You must find something more nutrient than just plants!{endif} Having wasted some hours try to find anything edible, you take a bath in the river to clean yourself.

It is relieving to take a shower after the long and tiresome days you have had so far, yet the end of your torments is still far away. As you look down on your chest while washing your boobs, you spot some fish swimming by your legs. A new idea strikes your mind. How about catching the fish and eating them? But how? Well, **** lightning! You run ashore, dry yourself to get rid of the water connection and send bolts of lightning into the water to kill the fish. It works surprisingly well, the dead fish swim up to the surface, there is but one problem... The river's flow takes them all downstream before you could jump in and catch them. Without a net, it will be quite hard to get a single one... You go out and try hunting one more time, but this attempt too was fruitless. Returning to the cave empty handed with an equally empty stomach, you lay down onto your makeshift bed, pull a huge leaf onto yourself and fall asleep.

Lana (to herself): This planet is crazy...! How are you going to survive here Lana? How could anybody survive here anyway?!

The upcoming days pass in similar manner, mostly you are after something edible, but besides some very bad looking and tasting fruits, you have nothing to show for. The last week was spent without sufficient food, you can feel your **** powers dwindling when you attempt to use one. You grow hungrier day by day, sensing you can't keep this lifestyle up for long... In the morning you hear something big approaching you from the deeper parts of the cave. You have never wandered down inside, only as far as the sunlight allowed you. It is roaring in the distance, every step it makes is clearly heavier than most beasts's you have seen here. It is coming closer and closer. Maybe the cave wasn't empty after all...? Jumping out of the bed, finding nothing to fight you possible opponent with, you panic, as you try to come up with a plan. It won't allow you to finish your line of thought though. A big Gundark appears in front of you from the darkness, roaring loudly as it spots you in his cave.

Lana (panicking): A Gundark...?! I was spending the last days next to a Gundark's nest?!

Gundarks are vicious predators, living in caves and forming nests, housing several Gundarks inside one. They have four arms and they are strong physically.

Your time to decide is now, try to fight it somehow or run? You have barely eaten in the last 7 days, you are about to reach your limit if you use the **** again! But if you flee into the jungle and try to hide somewhere other predators may pick you off more easily.
