Checking in

You arrive at the hotel to see Stacy and Old Bob relaxing at the lounge with some drinks.

“You’re finally here!”, Stacy jumps up and kisses you. She holds you tightly. She continues, “There might have been some mistake when Old Bob booked the rooms. I don’t know how to tell you.” She calms down when Old Bob approaches and starts to explain.

Apparently Old Bob, seeing as he won the prize and was allowed to bring someone along, wrote down Stacy as his companion and so she got booked into his room. They simply assumed they were married. Old Bob also booked a room for you in the hotel, but it was a single room.

“Well, did you tell them that you weren’t married? We could just tell them it got mixed up.”, you think of the easiest solution. You look at Stacy and she just looks at the ground, as if she disapproves of your plan.

Old Bob starts talking down to you, “Boy, let me tell you, Qatar has different rules, they will lock us up for booking a room together here. Even coming here together will be suspicious. We were already having a drink together, sharing an occasional hug. Telling them now that we are not married will only get Stacy and I in trouble. The best plan is to pretend that Stacy and I are married”. After Old Bob says this, Stacy actually lights up and looks up to him.

“In no way is my girlfriend pretending to be your wife, Old Bob.” You try to stand up for yourself but even Stacy tells you otherwise. “Please Matt, it would get us in so much trouble, it would ruin our whole holiday. What is even the issue of me sharing the room with him, it’s just a room.”

Old Bob just calmly says, “Exactly, we’ll just share a room, tv, balcony, shower, and bed.” He grins ever so slightly. “Remember, I have all the documents of this trip, so you better behave and stop disturbing my wife and me.” He ends the conversation and grabs Stacy’s hand and they check in. She looks back at you and says that it’s just pretend.

“Good afternoon sir and madam, are you ready to check in?”, the bellboy greets them friendly. The bellboy should’ve been called bellman since he was rather old but surprisingly strong as he lifted the luggage into his carriage. You estimated him to be about 70 years old, he had a dark skin and wore a white traditional Qatari robe.

“Yes, we are”, Old Bob shows his booking and the bellboy is surprised.

“Oh wow, you have booked the suite. Must be a special occasion. I see that you were first booked in a normal room but got upgraded to the most luxurious room. Your wife must be a very lucky woman”, Stacy blushes but plays the role as wife perfectly as she holds Old Bob’s arm and hugs him tightly.

“Yup, you bet ya I upgraded the room. Even better, someone paid me back for this upgrade!” Old Bob laughs and winks at you. That piece of shit actually charged you more because he wanted to upgrade his own room.

“Perhaps it was a honeymoon gift, sir. That person surely wanted you two to fully enjoy this holiday. That suite is the perfect way to start your marriage, if you get what I mean”, he winks at Stacy who is still acting as the perfect wife. He hands them their key cards and wishes them all the fun in the world. The way he winked at Stacy pissed you off as it came off as creepy to you but Stacy was totally fine with him.

Afterwards it’s your turn to check in and Old Bob shows the booking for you to the bellboy. He starts looking into the computer but says he doesn’t need to see any more documents and that Old Bob and Stacy should enjoy their honeymoon. Old Bob happily agrees while Stacy is still holding onto him.

“We’ll go ahead and unpack our stuff in the room. We’ll meet up later”, Old Bob grabs Stacy’s hand after this and they go to their room on the top floor.

“It seems that you have a single room, are you here alone, sir?”, you sense a slight tease from the old man but you have no other option than to nod. He gives you your keys and you’re on your way to your room.
