An old Game Boy

After quickly scanning his closet, he noticed a small item sticking out in the corner of the room. It was an old Game Boy. His father bought it for him when he was about four years old. He used to love that thing, but as time bore on, he grew to love more advanced consoles. He had a ton of consoles, but it all started with that old grey Game Boy…

He picked it up, opened the display case and set it down in a slot. He didn’t know why. There was just some kind of inkling of hope in his heart. After he closed the case, he walked out of his closet, closing the door behind him and walking over to his sisters room.

Through the closed door of her room, he was already stunned by the apparent changes. He could hear a very clear music playing from inside. It sounded like the soundtrack to an old game he had played. Maybe Zelda? Either way, he didn’t waste time, opening the door.

Immediately he was struck with awe as he looked at how different her room had become. Originally, it was just a plain, boring girls room, but now, it was a gamer’s dream. Is was mostly dark, with the only light being a few LED strips and the light of the screens. The old shaggy carpet now resembled the floor of an arcade. Covered in various retro game characters. The wall contained a shelf of thousands of games, and basically every console known to man…

She sat in some colorful pajamas on a large bean bag chair, holding a controller, and mindlessly staring at the now gigantic tv. It seemed her entire life style had changed to match her habit. She seemed completely and totally enthralled in whatever game she was playing.

“Ugh… Hey Sarah.” Steven spoke, startling her.

“Oh! Jesus! Warn me before you barge in dude.” She paused her game, looking up at you. “What’s up…? Did you wanna play something with me?” She looked somewhat excited to see you for some reason.

But usually she was so upset when you came in her room. Maybe… Maybe your mutual love of video games changed your childhood? “I-I… I-ugh… No. I’m good. Just wanted to see how you were doing.” He stammered out timidly.

She merely groaned. “C’mon dude, you know better than to interrupt me for stupid stuff like that! Just go. Maybe make some lunch for us?” She turns him around, shoving him to the door.

As he made his way out of the room, closing the door behind him, he nearly fainted from excitement. That stupid fucking case actually works! What should he do now? Should he change some thing else?!

A million thoughts ran through his mind. He could use all manner of items to change her into anything… maybe it’s time to experiment?
