Level Up - Luke Reaches Level ??

Luke subconsciously raised his left arm just in time to intercept the attack. But the ‘Divine Smite’ spell burned right through his flesh. Luke’s arm melted away as the beam continued and struck his chest. But just as Luke tried to cry out in pain, everything froze. Time stopped, Luke thought he died … just as an all too familiar feminine voice chimed in his head.

The voice stopped but time didn’t unfreeze. Luke couldn’t move, nor could he see. His vision was flooded with blinding white light. The feminine voice chimed again.

“Do You Wish to Attempt Absorbing the ‘Divine’ spell?” the feminine voice asked more frantically.

Luke was at a loss. He never communicated with his talisman before. Trying not to overthink it Luke simply relied on his ‘Telepathy’ training.

“Yes!” Luke thought to his talisman.

Again, Luke had no context to understand the situation.

“Yes!” Luke thought back in a panic.

As Luke waited for something to happen, he began to feel burning pain in his chest. Unfortunately, time was still frozen. Luke couldn’t react in any way; he could only suffer the pain as it grew.

“Shit, it’s like the freezing cold of mana drain in reverse,” Luke thought with a mental grimace.

Seconds turned to Minutes, as a small burning ember of pain grew hotter and hotter in Luke’s chest.

“It just … just keeps growing,” Luke thought as he began to count how long the pain was lasting.

“3,597 … 3,598 … 3,599,” Luke shouted in his own mind.

An hour passed, and the once small ember was now a giant blazing sun in Luke’s chest. Luckily, Luke’s 'Mental Fortress' ability helped him stay sane.

“11,234 … 11,235 … 11,236,” Luke screamed to himself.

Pain, Pain, Pain, Pain, was the only thing Luke could think about as he counted the endless **** in his mind.

“I should have just let myself get killed and respawn at my 'Soul Crystal',” Luke thought for the hundredth time.

But just as he was about to reach the 5-hour 34-minute mark in his purgatory of pain.

He remembered losing his arm. But he didn’t recall having glowing skin and a massive hole in his chest.

“Quick Luke! try healing yourself,” Shannon cried remembering Luke’s 'Alteration' ability.

“And tried to stop glowing,” Liz said shielding her eyes.
