Slept through most of it

As the sun pierces your eyelids, you realize you aren’t in your bed. The mattress is more firm and the pillow under your head less so. Opening your eyes confirms you fell asleep in the living room.

Dropping your gaze from the ceiling, you discover Hannah sitting on the opposite couch. She's holding a bowl of fruit and staring right at you. In your transitional state, the only reaction you manage is a raised eyebrow. That seems to snap her out of whatever daze she was in.

"Hi– I wasn't– you were just–..." Your sister drops her head with a sigh, letting the bowl fall to her lap. "I'm sorry. I guess I owe you a favor now."

It's too early for this. You mumble "make me breakfast" and pull the blanket over your eyes.

Not a minute later, you hear the sounds of running water over dishes, followed by the ignition spark of the stove. If someone asked you last week what you would do with a hypothetical kink amplification app, "breakfast in bed" wouldn't be at the top of your list, but it's a nice perk regardless.

Speaking of, you almost certainly made some progress with Mom last night. You uncover your face and reach over to the coffee table to retrieve your phone.

Automatic Sleep Mode

Now that you have slept in the same bed as a subject, and remained in contact with them while you/they were ****, you have met the conditions for this additional mode to be unlocked. No other conditions were created for this, so this message may appear when you are at any level or with any number of subjects.

Now, to get to the bit you're probably waiting for: Due to the nature of the KDK, having the User and/or the subject be **** during the process of accruing seconds to add to a subject’s total had some negative repercussions during my own testing. Not allowing the subjects time to adjust to their changes, and even adding to the increased burden if a level-up was to occur during a rest, caused subjects to become agitated and restless and in some cases, made it seem like they received no sleep at all.

In order to prevent this, I have added a restriction to the system, and through various testing, I have concluded that this was enough of a change to remove the side effects completely.

So now for what you've been waiting for… again, here are the details:

• While a subject is ****/asleep, the rate at which seconds are accrued is halved, meaning that every 2 seconds spent in contact with a subject, only 1 is added to their total.
• In addition to this, if the User is also ****, the rate is halved again. So if both the subject and the user are ****, 4 seconds of contact adds 1 second to the subject's total (2 to 1 if only the user is ****)

I offer my apologies for the debuff limiting the progress of your journey, but I hope you can understand when I say that this is for the best for both yourself and the subject(s) that you are taking care of.

Ah, so it’s more of a safety measure than something you can exploit. That’s a little disappointing, but you’re not too miffed considering the notification about it was unexpected in the first place.

Or you could not. The last “Keep it up” hit your groin with a pain that was unbearable. At the very least you need to apply it somewhere private, so there’s no one to discover you sobbing into your pillow.

Good to know these can be more than just upgrades. “Absolute Zero” seems like a consumable you want to save until you have a better sense of the range for cooldowns. Right now you have no idea if 14 hours is the high end of the spectrum or somewhere in the middle. One thing is certain: by the time your mom gets home, her Training Clicker will refresh on its own anyway.

Luckily you just unlocked a third pair of effects, which might provide the data point you need.

You once again lament the waste of extra touch time after leveling up. Even if your mom also dozed off, counting each second in quarter-time, that would still mean you blew past the threshold about a fifth of the way into the movie.

Active - It Can't Wait:

Condition(s): Subject is within 25 meters of the User. Subject is focused on something other than the User.

Effect(s): Subject will immediately disengage from her current activity and attempt to receive praise from the User instead. Subject will behave more desperately than usual in order to achieve her goal. Effect intensifies until subject receives praise or 1 hour passes.

Cooldown: 8 hours

You would pump your fist right now, if you weren’t a bit worried about Hannah seeing and having questions. Your digital squire has bequeathed you more ways to influence your mom, to shape her into a willing pet.

Groping her without asking wasn't your proudest moment, but you hope anyone keeping score will forgive a freak trying to get some peace of mind. If you can break down the touch barrier enough and, with the help of some psychic influence, get her to initiate just one time, that'll be a huge weight off your shoulders. You won't have to worry about your mom realizing you're attracted to her, because the cat's out of the bag at that point.

Any plans to further this goal will have to wait, however, since your mom is at work and your sister just returned with coffee and a steaming plate of stir fry.
