Unfortunately for him, he didn't notice as an officer approached, stopping just in front of the ladies, holding a clipboard in his hands.

''Are you miss Dana Badenhop?'' He asked

''Yes, that's me'' Came the response from the shorter lady as she looked to her friend, almost as though seeking permission.

''We're ready for your statement now. Come with me''

Oh, shit. John quickly changed targets on his phone, realising he hadn't done anything to stop Dana from telling the police whatever would get them to believe her. And given that they had found John hiding in the women's restroom, ''believable'' wasn't going to be a high bar for her to pass.

''Hold on. Shouldn't I be giving you my statement?'' Asked Madeleine

''Well, weren't you both witnesses?'' Came the slightly confused response from the officer

''Yes, but...'' She started, sitting up in her chair.

''Ma'am, we'll take both statements, we just need to do this one at a time. Would you like me to get someone to bring you a coffee while you wait?''

John had loaded Dana up, just waiting for the statement to finish generating and glad that Madeleine was unintentionally stalling on his behalf

''Yes, if you don't mind'' She replied

''Not a problem ma'am. Wilson! Get this lady a coffee!'' The officer turned and silently started to lead Dana towards the same room John had been in just a short while ago when he officially gave his statement to the Police.

He looked at the sentence he had available in regards to Dana

''Dana is preparing herself to talk to the police, remembering all the details of the story she will tell''
