''So, ma'am. Walk us through what happened'' The officer said, setting himself down into a chair on the other side of a table from Dana. He held up two plastic water bottles, setting one on the table in front of her and opening the other to take a swig for himself.

''Well, I... We were...'' Dana paused as she suddenly realised she was completely drawing a blank on what to tell the officer.

''You don't need to worry ma'am, just tell us whatever you saw'' The officer said, reassuringly.

''I... I was at the bar with Madeleine and we were having some drinks...'' She paused again, she knew that her drinking at a bar wasn't relevant to what she wanted to tell him, but everything beyond opening the bathroom door seemed like a blur.

''That's Ms. McCullough, the other witness?'' He asked

She nodded, scrunching her brow as she tried to remember what she was supposed to tell the officer

''So, you told our officers on the scene that you saw a man in the bathroom?''

''Yes! A man, he was...'' She had agreed with the officers assertion, but she couldn't recall seeing any man in the bathroom.

Seeing her pause again, the officer reached across the table and set his hand down closer to her, softening his tone of voice ''We understand that what you saw could be traumatic for some, so just take whatever time you need''

Dana froze, realising just how difficult it would be to bluff her way through this. ''Can I... I don't want to talk about this right now. Can I go?''

The officer cocked an eyebrow, taking in a deep breath and letting out a sigh, nodding gently. ''Okay, we'll take Miss McCullough's statement first''

Dana started to get up before the officer held a hand out towards her ''Ma'am, if you feel you can, It's essential we get the details straight as soon as possible''

She nodded before moving towards the door.
